App not accounting for calorie deficit

I have my weight loss goal set for a 250 calorie deficit. But when I log food, it shows my calories remaining being the same as my calories burned. For example, tonight it shows that I have 2,100 calories out, 1,600 calories in, and 500 calories remaining. Shouldn’t it be 250 calories remaining, in order to maintain my deficit?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @AnneHogan.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern about the calorie deficit you see in the app. Thank you for providing the additional details and I am here to help.

The calories in vs out are constantly being updated since this depends on the activity you do and the calories burned by your BMR. It is taking in consideration the difference you already recognize and adding the remaining BMR calories between the current time and midnight. Since you will still get some calories until the day ends, this should be balanced the next day you see your stats.
