Is it possible my Fitbit Zip came with a crapped out battery? No matter what I do, the thing won't come on & support was useless. What could I be doing wrong? I got it in April, but just tried to set it up yesterday. The battery has been in my purse, could something have ruined it? It hasn't been exposed to any extreme conditions.

It's entirely possible the battery is weakened by time on the shelf and/or in your purse.

 

Why not take out the existing battery and try a new one? It can't hurt to try a fresh battery.
