Since iOS 12 Apple devices only show the Bluetooth logo when a device is connected, not just because Bluetooth is on. However, that does not work for Alta HR, and presumably other Fitbit devices.
Not sure if/how much this matters to people, but just posting the info here in case anyone else is puzzled by the apparent disappearance of the Bluetooth symbol.
