Brand new Fitbit Alta HR not receiving notifications

Just got a brand new Fitbit Alta HR for Xmas and set it up. However it is not receiving any notifications at all when calling or texting. I have tried numerous suggestions in this forum:

 

-making sure notifications are turned on and showing properly for phone, messages, and calendar.

-making sure dnd is not on

-forgetting device and restarting to try repairing

 

Nothing works. This is brand new so not sure what’s going on. I have the latest iOS updates installed.
