Calories in vs out error in the new dashboard

Not only is the new dashboard ugly and inferior, it gives conflicting data on calories in vs out. Witness where the dashboard says I have 1,932 left while the food log states 933.

Hi @RChobby. Welcome to the Forums.

Thanks for your feedback about the new dashboard, as well the screenshot that was attached in your reply. Let's work on this together. First of all, let me explain that the calorie burn estimate that is displayed in the Fitbit app takes into account your basal metabolic rate (BMR), the activity recorded by your tracker, and any activities you log manually. The BMR is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions like breathing and the reason why you have calories even if you haven't gotten out of bed yet.

In line with that, let's say it's 6 pm and you burned 2000 and took 1500. You'd expect to see 500 left in the Fitbit app, but that's not true as it's still missing 6 hours until midnight of consumption. That means the Fitbit app will show you at least 500 + the calories that you will consume until midnight. Now, with the screenshot that you shared, at 5:14 PM you've burned 1998 calories, taken BMR into account, and depending on the food plan selected, you're recommended to eat 933 calories to reach the goal of your food plan. However, since you'll still burn calories (BMR) for the rest of the day until midnight, you can still eat up to 1932 calories.

I'll be around if you have another question.
