I have a Charge HR and a Versa. I like to wear one when I’m doing yard work, etc. and the other for other normal activities during the same day. Will my steps transfer from one device to the other? For example, if I get 4000 steps on my HR and 6000 steps on my Versa, will they show as a total of 10000 steps on both devices?

Yes. That is exactly how it works.
You can have multiple fitbits (of different types) on your account and switch throughout the day. So you can switch your CHR and your Versa throughout the day and each will transfer the steps it records to the fitbit servers. If the other device is in range of your phone, it will also update to the new step total. The process works best when you wear just one fitbit at a time, as in your example.
Although it does not affect you right now, you should know that you cannot add and switch between two fitbits of the same kind to your account (for example, you cannot have two Charge HRs), and you cannot have a Versa and an Ionic or the new Charge 3 on the same account. But because your CHR and Versa are different fitbits, that's not an issue.
Hope that answers your questions.
