I run on an indoor track from time to time and therefore the GPS doesn't record the distance I've covered accurately. I've tried to look for solutions to this problem and it's been advised that details can be edited by tapping on the exercise tile on the Fitbit iOS app. I've tried that, but every time I change the distance the details quickly revert to the recorded data.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm hoping to edit the distance and calories burned from treadmill workouts. Yesterday's run was over a mile off between the treadmill and fitbit distances (3 miles fitbit, 4 treadmill) after a 30 minute run at sub-7:30 pace. Mathmatically the fitbit distance doesn't work. Calories are here nor there, but that distance log is pretty important.

Hello @KJones_Buff, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that auto-detected exercises and exercises you start through the Fitbit can't be edited, only the ones you manually log in. With that said, I would like to suggest you to check the following article in how your stride length influence in the distance of your exercises and how you can edit it to improve the accuracy on them: How do I measure and adjust Stride Length?.
I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Heres the thing- we all bought these fitbits so we could do just that. Its not some ancillary feature that we hoped it would have, its more or the less the core feature. How can this not be fixed yet?

So annoying that we are paying big money and these fitbits are off by so much. I should have bought a Garmin.

No it hasn't. Clearly a lot of users want to be able to edit data. I just made the switch to FitBit from Garmin and not being able to tell the app how long my run actually was according to the treadmill is a huge letdown

Did we ever get a resolution to this ?
I have exactly the same problem as ceb33 in that When I edit distance it just flashes back to the original recorded distance. Also, it does show as updated in the "Activity History" list but when I go into the specific activity, it again shows the old distance ???

Doesn’t work for me either. On “Run” type exercises, I get the aforementioned behavior where I set the miles value and it just resets it to the prior distance when I view exercise details. On “Treadmill” exercises, where you’d expect this feature to be most valuable, it doesn’t give any options other than editing time start and finish.
All in all, pretty astonishing you can’t edit something this simple. Will probably return my Fitbit for something that at least supports basic functionality.

So still no resolution on this? I just ran the same 5k loop I always do, Fitbit didn’t pick up the GPS despite saying it was connected when I started my run, and registered the run as 4.35km. Gone to edit the distance and I get the same issue as mentioned above by other users. This should be such a simple thing to fix surely? It’s bad enough that the Fitbit hasn’t recorded my run correctly but if I can’t even edit it to track my exercise correctly then it makes it basically redundant.

This is so incredibly frustrating because the device just isn't accurate; so should definitely be able to edit it. I mean, Why not? I biked 1.7 miles to work this am; and started the exercise through fitbit because otherwise it just doesn't autodetect. It only logs me as going .35 miles although the time is accurate. I am so frustrated with fitbit that I am actively looking at other loggers.

Definitely have my vote for allowing "distance" to be edited for Treadmill exercise. All treadmills record distance. Stride length would be the measurement learned (or calibrated) by allowing distance to be edited. Distance appears to be editable for the Walk exercise. Please!!!

export to .tcx file, then edit with garmin basecamp, then upload to strava. If fitbit would allow uploading edited .tcx files that would be good...

Yes, sometimes the auto-detect does not turn on until a few minutes into the workout. So my record is off by half a mile. Fitbit should allow us to edit both auto-detected runs and manually created ones.

I am as annoyed, I am a rower, I rowed a 5 000 m, my rower telks me I burned a lot of calories, this stupid fitbit sense which cost me a lot of money told me, my heart rate was below and I only burned 5 calories. How in earth can this thi g be accurate.
I regret buying it, since rowing is nit even on the excercise list, fitbit doesn't see rowing as an excercise I assume.

Same problem here. Distance usually off by 10-15% on my runs. I bring up the UI control to edit distance. When I hit done the new distance is reflected on the screen for a split second and then reverts back to the wrong distance it figured out on it's own. I know this type of distance editing worked before, then somewhere around 9 months ago it stopped. Super annoying. Bring it back already!! How hard can it be, it used to work like a champ!!

I too would like to know when this feature is coming to Android--three years after this thread. FitBit would not connect to my phone's GPS for my lunch walk today and logged a walk it normally logs as 2.1 miles with GPS as 1.5 miles without. That is nearly 1/3 of my walk that wasn't logged. I hate when this happens....I didn't want to wait any longer for my GPS to connect after minutes of waiting. Add the edit feature to the Android app for Walk, Run, Hike, and Treadmill exercises, please.

I don’t understand your advice. You obviously know that the distance cannot be changed on a recorded run. It intentional for some reason. I know it’s intentional because if you do a treadmill walk the app allows you to put in the distance you walked. But if it’s a treadmill run it does not let you change the distance. The technology is already right there in the app but it was only applied to certain activities. Not sure what the benefit for you is for that but it’s definitely intentional.

I’m just curious why this option changed??
I had a Charge 2 for over five years, and loved it dearly. Only upgraded to a Charge 5 because the 2 died. But I could manually edit my run distances with no issues. Now, with the 5, I can’t do anything and my distances are off no matter what.
Is there a fix planned?? Some of these others’ questions were from years ago and I’m dealing with the same issue still.,,

Sorry, Fitbit, but so many users are still having this problem, and you just can’t seem to fix it.
looks like the end is coming to my relationship with Fitbit.

I don't know if this post is still live!
I have recently started using a fitbit and have a few issues. I have been unable to edit distances performed indoors to tally with what the machines are telling me. Like Ceb33 it allows the change but immediately returns to the original.
Since i am inside i dont expect to have to turn the GPS off for each machine i go on.
It allows me to start as a run and edit the category after the fact to a rowing machine. It isn't allowing me to have a rowing machine in my selection categories.
I have logged off the fit bit app, turn the phone on and off and also deleted the app all to no avail.
The other issue that i have is that it wont allow me to become a premium member it crashes ever time i try.
