Cannot Pair Alta with iPhone 7

I got a new phone yesterday and I don't know how to get the Alta to pair with my new phone. I "unpaired" it from my old phone and downloaded the Fitbit app on my new phone and logged into my account. It shows my Alta as a device but cannot find it, I assume because it isn't connected via Bluetooth. How do I get my new phone to pair with the Alta? Nothing shows up under Bluetooth on my phone.

I clicked on the Alta in the Fitbit app, then notifications, then yes, pair, and voila! It's paired so easy!

My Fitbit has been paired without issue for several months until a few days ago! I've done all the suggestions including deleting the Fitbit app, fully charging my Alta, turning Bluetooth off and on, restarting my phone and updating to the latest iOS. Any other suggestions?

Thanks - I was experiencing the same problem. I updated my iPhone from a 5 to 7 and could not get my Alta to sync. By going to Bluetooth onmy old phone and unconnecting by selecting "Forget this device". Deleting the app from my new phone and reinstalling it - it instantly paired the Alta to my new phone and synced immediately. Thank you

I'm also not able to pair. What should the device show up as for blue tooth pairing? Will it say Alta or fitbit?

Hello @aruthie, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you around too @Wmsir0

@aruthie, as @Wmsir0 mentioned, once your tracker is paired to the Bluetooth on your phone it will display the name of the Fitbit tracker, in your case, Alta. However, keep in mind that the tracker will only appear if you have set up Notifications on it. Fitbit trackers will still be able to sync with the app even if they're not listed under the Bluetooth paired devices.

If your Alta is not setting up to your account please try the following:

  1. Restart your Alta and leave it plugged in and charging.
  2. Update the Fitbit app (we have recently released a new version)
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the setup process.
  5. Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi signal or enough cellular data.
  6. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  7. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

Hi--I had to get rid of my old iPhone because it was broken, so I can't unpaid my Alta from it. Does that mean I won't be able to pair it with my new phone? I was woken up by a Fitbit alarm this AM from something I had set on my old phone, which I got rid of almost a week ago. Please help!

Hello @gsd1, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Don't worry, even if you don't have your old phone at hand it's possible to link your new phone with your Alta. Your tracker is set up directly to your account, regardless of which phone you're using. If you're having trouble getting notifications, please try the following:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Open the Fitbit app, then tap on Account > Charge HR > Notifications and enable the ones you'd like to receive.

Additionally, on your phone, please go to Settings > Notifications > Fitbit and make sure these options are enabled:

  • Allow Notifications
  • Show in Notification Center
  • Show on Lock Screen.

Now, when it comes to alarms, these are also stored in your account, simply go to the Fitbit app and tap on Account > Alta > Silent Alarms and you'll be able to see your previous alarm here. Delete or modify it if you want, then sync your tracker in order to save the changes.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else!Smiley Wink

I had the same problem, so I opened the Fitbit App, clicked the arrow next to ALTA which showed Notifications, Reminders to Move, Main Goal, etc.  Look for option for ALL DAY SYNC and choose ON.  It will then say device has to be paired to iphone and will ask permission to do so. Once paired, it will Sync to your phone and you can check the pairing with Bluetooth.

Just got a new phone (iPhone 7) and ran into this issue.  I ended up restarting my Alta while the app was searching for it.  Then it gave me the code to pair.  Hope it works for anyone else having this problem.
