I am trying to set up a calorie deficit but every time I do it reverts back to a number of calories. I have restarted my Fitbit, deleted and reinstalled app multiple times, offloaded data. I am
clicking on my profile in the app and going to food goal under nutrition and weight, setting a calorie deficit and confirming my choice. It will show goal as calorie deficit but as soon as I leave that screen it reverts back to a daily calorie goal. I also don’t have the ability to set a goal weight, only body fat goal. My phone is running most recent iOS so I think it may be an app problem.

I’m having the same issue and keeps reverting back every time I try to reset it. Also, the target calorie amount it defaults is ridiculously low and unsafe for any adult, and would be worried about anyone with disordered eating - or a history of this - being able to set a calorie intake so low. I know it doesn’t stop someone from restricting food, but the imagery on the app when you go over the target could very easily be a trigger to restrict food intake. It just makes no sense when all the guidance is calories in versus calories out for sustainable and maintainable weight loss.

Same issue just started today. Have there been no updates or communication from Fitbit yet?! It keeps reverting back and it’s sooooo frustrating! App updated and still not resolved 😞

I requested a call via the Fitbit support page and was told they were aware of the problem. Maybe if more people do that we will get it fixed faster? They also sent me this follow up email.
Thanks for reaching out to the Fitbit Customer Care Team.

Hi everyone!
Thanks for the feedback. We are aware of an issue when changing Calorie goals from the Today tab and are currently looking into it.
As a workaround, you can successfully update a fixed daily calorie target by following this path: You > Goals > Nutrition > Calories target.
We are investigating further improvements to our calorie goal settings to ensure a better experience moving forward.

I’m having the same problem since yesterday 10 March. I have IOS 26.3.1 and the Fitbit app version is 4.65.
It is maddening. I have been loving this feature but not now. The calorie deficit option is the one I want.
Fitbit please sort this asap.

Done that multiple times and just again now and it still is not working. Just automatically goes back to 1940 calories. Showing no deficit and not showing calories left for the day.

No change 😞 it just keeps going back to the same as before, won’t stick to the deficit I choose. So frustrating!!!

Makes 0 difference unfortunately. I’ve tried to do this numerous times and get faced with the same issue. Unfortunately without this feature this app & watch is pointless for me.

Same problem - started today 3/11. Tried resetting goal for calorie deficit 5 times. Keeps reverting to a static (and non sensical) value

Hey! It is letting me set a calorie goal which isn’t what I want BUT the number it was showing was too low to be healthy. I used the daily averages for my last few weeks and set that as the calorie goal. It’s not perfect, but it’ll still provide a good(ish) target while their dev team works this out.
