Cannot set calorie deficit goal

ANSWERED

I am trying to set up a calorie deficit but every time I do it reverts back to a number of calories.  I have restarted my Fitbit, deleted and reinstalled app multiple times, offloaded data.   I am

clicking on my profile in the app and going to food goal under nutrition and weight, setting a calorie deficit and confirming my choice. It will show goal as calorie deficit but as soon as I leave that screen it reverts back to a daily calorie goal.   I also don’t have the ability to set a goal weight, only body fat goal.   My phone is running most recent iOS so I think it may be an app problem.

My Renpho scale actually synced once with the Fitbit app and it had not since this started Monday.  So maybe we're getting somewhere.  Not sure how this works - can things change if you do not update the app? I am pretty sure my app was working fine Monday morning, then AFTER the bugs showed up I updated the app.  Can changes happen without updating through the app store?

Has this issue been resolved? I’m still unable to set a deficit

Best Answer

Fitbit support has there been no update to this error/bug?? It’s been over 2 weeks now with no resolution- totally unacceptable! The reason I bought this was for the calorie deficit and there’s just no point in having a Fitbit without this function. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

Best Answer

I agree . Having that deficit keeps me motivated to stay on track with my calories in vs. calories out

Still no fix for the “calorie deficit” issue. If there’s no “calorie deficit” feature, what’s the point of having fitbit app? I work on a calorie deficit goal, planning the remaining calories I can still have (eat)…

This is broken on both Android and iOS - so maybe it's a WIDE issue that needs to be addressed!

How come there's no mention of the issue on the Fitbit Status Dashboard?

Best Answer

Hi, I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve tried everything suggested but still can’t set a calorie deficit.

As person who is trying to control their weight, the daily calorie deficit  information is very important to me

Am getting fed up with it all as no one seems to be trying to fix this bug!  An update from Fitbit would help, not to much to ask !

The fact that it isn’t mentioned on the fitbit status dashboard concerns me too!  The status page at the link below currently shows “no incidents” with the mobile app (green) so it hasn’t even been acknowledged that it’s something they are working on.

I hope I'm wrong about this... but I recall about 3 years ago when the ability to log flights of stairs quietly disappeared. I used and liked that feature, a lot. After replacing my "malfunctioning" fitbit, I discovered that without any heads up whatsoever, that feature had been discontinued. The fact that our current issue isn't mentioned in the status dashboard and the fact that we aren't getting a whole lot from "customer service" makes me wonder if the calorie deficit function isn't coming back as well. I do love my Fitbit and the app, but Google REALLY has to do better.

I fear you're exactly right.  Might I ask, do you know what the other apps are that work with a fitbit and have a deficit function?

Best Answer

If that’s the case, then Google has been very sneaky and show little interest to keep their loyal customers happy and informed.  Come on Google, be transparent- even if the answer isn’t going to be popular.

Best Answer

I really, really hope I'm wrong.  But all Fitbit/Google has to do is post something - anything - about what's going on.  I'd really love to keep on loving the Fitbit app, which I've used so many years I can't even count..  It does everything I need it to do and it's a great value for the money.  But we need and deserve to know what exactly is going on here.  This is Day 9. It's getting hard to hang in there under these circumstances.

Totally agree. I’ve been loyal to Fitbit/Google from when Fitness trackers were first introduced.

For the first time , I’m now looking at other brands

Here is the most informative reply I've gotten from Fitbit support on the issue:

Thanks for reaching out to the Fitbit Customer Care Team.

We appreciate your interest in getting an update on this matter.

We regret informing you that our team is still working to resolve this issue. Please be assured that this is not isolated to your account; it is a global issue currently affecting multiple users.

We understand the inconvenience this causes and kindly ask for your continued patience while our technical teams work to fix this for everyone. We will reach out as soon as we have a resolution to share.

Thank you for sharing this, it's really encouraging.

omg fitbit i am about to pass out. we need this fixed asap

Best Answer

Well good. I think we need to keep calling and asking and voicing our complaints, though. They *really* need to know that removing that feature would be detrimental.

Best Answer

Thanks for this, hopefully they have listened to our frustrations

What would you all recommend as a replacement. Specifically a fitness
tracker that monitors calories and allows a deficit
