Charge 2 Exercise options

Just purchased Charge2.  Don't have an iphone so have paired with my ipad.  I want to be able to track my morning walks, time and steps but cannot seem to call up the Exercise functions...tapping does not display this option.  What am I doing wrong?  Help!

You press the button to get to the exercise menu,  then tap to switch menu entry's which will choose the event.
