Charge 2 syncing and charging but will not power on

I have had a Charge 2 since January but have not used it in several months due to the following issue:

 

The Charge 2 will sync with my iPhone and the battery will fully charge. When I hold the button for 10-12 seconds while it is in the charging cradle, it will vibrate once. It does not show the battery or Fitbit icon and when removing it from the charger it will not power up.

 

Any suggestions for fixing this or should I just throw it away?
