Charge 3 disconnecting from Bluetooth constantly.

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi. I bought my Charge 3 less than a week ago. Each morning I need to “forget this device” from my iPhone 6s Bluetooth setting then re-pair as overnight it loses sync. My phone is charging but in same room as Fitbit. My previous fitness band costing around £30 never did this.  I’m so disappointed that I think I’m going to have to return device for a refund. Is this a faulty device ? Can I resolve this issue?  Thanks for reading .

Hello @Trichar11, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I would also like to thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. At this moment, I would like to suggest you to go to the Fitbit app and tap on Account > Charge 3 and enable All-day Sync, this will establish a link between your phone and your tracker. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue, this way the Charge 3 will not disconnect from the Bluetooth devices.

Note that it has been tested and confirmed that All-day will not drain the battery on your phone faster than usual.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, give this a try and let us know the outcome.

Hi Marcus .

Thanks for taking the time to respond . Unfortunately the ‘enable all day sync’ has always been enabled . However each morning , this button is disabled and the only way to get the pairing and sync going again is to ‘forget this device “ in my phones Bluetooth settings and then enable the ‘all day sync ‘

Very time consuming and cumbersome!

I have also been experiencing this problem with my Charge 3 and iPhone 6 s.  I purchased my Charge 3 this week.

Here's what I tried this morning and what I observed:

9:06

Paired iPhone 6 s with Charge 3.

9:08

Fit bit app synced with Charge 3.  All-Day Sync was not on, but with the sync, was switched to on.  Notifications and All-Day Sync began trying to pair to Bluetooth in the app.

9:10

App returned error message Bluetooth Paring Failed

9:11

Selected Try Again on the error message.  Notifications and All-Day Sync began trying to pair.  Settings in the phone show that the Charge 3 is connected.

9:21

Notifications and All-Day Sync still trying to pair.  Phone settings show the Charge 3 is still connected.

9:35

The app stopped trying to pair without an error message being returned.

9:40

Same observations as 9:08 and 9:10.  In iPhone Settings, the Charge 3 is now shown as not connected.

I hope this additional info might help with a fix.

Thanks!

Hello @TrixiebelleSuns I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

Thanks for coming back to us with the information requested. Please note that this board is dedicated to iOS devices and not Android ones, however, I'll try me best to help you.

At this moment, I would like to suggest you to check the following:

Additionally, turn on the Always Connected option in the Fitbit app. This setting improves the Bluetooth connection between your phone and Fitbit device. Note that turning on this feature may cause the battery on your Fitbit device to drain more quickly than normal.

I hope this can be helpful, if you need further assistance please visit our Android Board, as, like mentioned earlier, this board is dedicated to iOS devices.

Have a great day.

Hi,
Yes, they advised me to do various things, none actually worked, I also tried everything everyone else suggested still no good. In the end I deleted the app off my iPad, which is annoying, but that seemed to fix the problem. As yet I have not tried installing the app back onto my iPad!!!!
Wish you luck with your problem.

Hello @McTavish3 and @malvernlin, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community. It's great to see you around too @CBOYD1123

@McTavish3 and @CBOYD1123 first of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in the response. Please note that Notifications might skip or stop occasionally for several reasons that don't suggest a problem with your device or the Fitbit app, which is why I would like to ask you to check the following:

  • Your phone was too far away. It must be within 30 feet of your Fitbit device to transmit the notification.
For texts, you have the conversation open on your phone. Your Fitbit device shows new texts you haven't already read.
You changed a related setting on your phone, such as turning on Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode. To double check all requirements, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • You're using another Bluetooth product. If you have Bluetooth products like speakers, headsets, or car stereos paired to your phone along with your Fitbit device, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. For example, turning on your speaker might stop your phone from sending a notification or syncing. For more information, see Is the Fitbit app interfering with other Bluetooth devices?
  • The connection between your phone and Fitbit device is unstable. Bluetooth signals are susceptible to disconnecting or dropping occasionally.
  • The app that should send the notification can't do so. Check all the phone and Fitbit app requirements in How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • Your device was syncing. Syncing can sometimes prevent or delay a notification.
  • You just updated the Fitbit app. Restart your phone and try setting up notifications again.
  • Device lock is active on your Fitbit watch and you haven't recently entered your PIN. Tap your watch screen to see if the device lock prompt appears. If it does, enter your PIN.

If you've reviewed the list above and can't get notifications to work, please try the following:

  1. Force-quit the Fitbit app, then open it again and sync your tracker.
  2. Restart the Bluetooth on your phone once again.
  3. Reset your Versa once again.
  4. Refresh Notifications:
    • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
    • Tap Notifications.
    • Turn off all notifications
    • Restart your phone.
    • Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on.
  5. Set up Notifications again:
    • Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device.
      1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and find your Fitbit device in the list.
      2. Find an option to forget the device.
    • Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again.

If you have tried these troubleshooting steps already and your Charge 3 is still not getting Notifications, press down the button on the side for 2 seconds, in the menu that will show up, make sure Notifications are ON.

Give these steps a try and if you're still having trouble, please reply to us with the iPhone model you're using, OS version running on your phone and app version installed in your phone (go to Account > Help to get it)

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

I went through the process How do I get notifications from my phone on my
Fitbit device?
.
I checked all the settings on my phone and they were as suggested in the
Verify Your Phone Settings (Step 1). The difference this time was when I
tapped Notifications in the Fitbit app (Step 2), my Charge 3 was able to
pair with my iPhone. I called my cell phone and sent a text message and I
did receive the notifications on my Charge 3.

Thank you for all your help!

I too am having this issue. I have an iPhone 7plus.  I have done just about everything that the entire community has suggested. I was so excited when the charge 3 came out for the swimming capability. I waited 8 months hoping the bugs were worked out. Please, please look into this seriously and not automatically assume it’s user error. There are a lot of us that are having this issue and I really want to keep my Charge 3. Thanks

Best Answer

I can confirm this unfortunate behavior with an Android. Charge 3 simply disappears at some point of time and the phone can't re-establish the connection regardless of what and how many times you reboot. One solution is removing it and adding it again, which takes a lot of time. I've noticed that sometimes plugging the tracker in the charger helps (?!)

I finally gave up on my Charge 3 and bought an Apple Watch.

Anyone want a slightly used Charge 3 with two bands?

Have exactly the same issue. I think it happened when my iPhone upgraded to 12 iOS . It is driving me mad. Temptation to ditch Fitbit once and for all. I’ve tried all the suggestions on various communities and now the lack of sync means the time is out which affects my alarms which I rely on for work.
