Charge 3 won’t track exercise while app is in background

i have an iphone11 but this problem happened on my iphone 7 too. FitBit use to track my bike rides while it was in background so if i got a call or played music it continued tracking but now when i switch apps automatically stops tracking. i have the location services switched to always and the background app refresh is on too. How can i make this feature work again?

Have you recently done an update to the phone, or the Fitbit app? It sounds like the Fitbit app doesn't have permission to run in the background.
