Why since the latest update on IOS does the app not recognise a run no matter what I do to the settings all my runs are showing as walks !

@StevoT It sounds like you are using MobileRun, where you start/stop your run in the app. I don't use this feature, so I tried it to see if I could confirm your experience. Both runs and hikes get changed to walks. I can understand why you would use this feature -- your Charge 4 only has built in GPS. Built in GPS uses more device battery. MobileRun can give you voice cues, too.
I'm not sure if Fitbit will fix this new bug or not. MobileRun is an older feature (I needed it for my One and Charge HR). It's rare for Fitbit to fix new bugs on older features. The feature that Fitbit needs to fix is the ability to rename an exercise.
Until Fitbit fixes the renaming feature, your best option is to use your Charge 4 Exercise app with the Run shortcut. You also get your heart rate graph when you use the Exercise app on the Charge 4. You don't get a heart rate graph using MobileRun.
