Custom groups not showing in app.

Hieee! So i created a group on the Fitbit website and invited a few friends, but i can’t seem to find the group anywhere on the Fitbit app. I checked under the community bit on the app but it only shows the sort of generic public groups i’ve joined, like yoga and hiking etc. Help help!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, unfortunately at this moment it's not possible to have custom groups in the Community Tab. I understand how important this is for you, our team is always looking to improve the Fitbit experience and I would like to encourage you to check @PTI's suggested idea to implement this feature in a future update.

Please feel free to add your comment and vote to this idea as this is the best way to make your voice heard and get the attention from our development team.

This is one basic feature...the fitbit app is dissapointing sometimes...this should be simple to execute and its annoying as I need to refer to the website everytime I want to look up my group.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for posting your Question. At this moment, even though it's not possible to see custom groups created on the online Dashboard, you're able to create your own Custom Groups inside the Fitbit app! Follow these steps to start your own group and invite your friends:

1. Tap on the Community tab at the bottom of the screen
2. Select Groups
3. Tap on Create Group
4. Choose a name, description, rules and a picture for your group
5. Tap on Create
6. Once your group is created you can tap on it and add new members.

Still doesn't work.  The groups I'm a member of don't show up in the app.  Groups tab is still empty.  This seems like a basic thing . I'm in a group with my friends, but can only see it on the website which no one goes to regularly.

Please note that custom groups created on the online Dashboard are not the same as custom groups created on the app and at this moment, it's not possible to import a group created on the online Dashboard to the app. 

If you'd like to see this feature implemented,  I would like to encourage you to submit your insight as a suggested idea, where members of the Community can comment and vote for it so it can be implemented in the future.

Feel free to share your suggestion with your friends and family to add more votes and comments, this is the best way to make your voice heard and get the attention from our development team.

 I started a group on the Fitbit app itself.

But I could not edit the privacy setting.

So I deleted it and went to Fitbit.com. Was able to set up the group immediately and make the group public.

Now, I cannot post pictures using the dashboard on the .com online version 

i cannot find it (group) on app 

but I’d be able to post pics on the app version(?!?!)

I appreciate you have shared your experience with us and for letting us know the steps you've tried so far. Please note that groups created through the online Dashboard are not the same as groups created through the app and you won't be able to edit or see them on other platform that is not the one were they were created, this means that if you created a group through the online Dashboard, you won't be able to see it in the app and vice-versa. 

I hope this resolves your inquiry; now, if you're having trouble posting picture on the online Dashboard group, please reply with a screenshot of what you're able to see so we can check this further.

I can't seem to create a custom group on the app. I did create one on the dashboard but the app would be more convenient. I followed the steps but it never creates it. It allows me to type in name & description etc...but the letters stay light gray and it never moves past that screen.

I appreciate you have joined us and reported this to us. At this moment, I would like to suggest you to force-quit the app, open it again and try to create a custom group in the app again. If this doesn't seem to work, log out from the app, wait 2 minutes and log back in. After that, try to create a custom group. 

If you're still unable to create a custom group in the app, please reply to us with a screenshot of what you're able to see when creating a group, this will be very helpful for us to check this further.

This says the feature was released in October 2018, however I cannot see my private/closed groups on my iPhone.

What is a "custom" group?  When you create a group on the Fitbit website, the options are Public, Public (invitation only) and Private (hidden from everyone).

I would like to see my _private_ groups in the iPhone app, hardly anyone goes to the website.

When creating a group in the iPhone app, there doesn't seem to be a way to make it private.  It only lets you fill in Group Name, Group Description, and Group Rules.

Is it something you can alter later?

I appreciate you have come back and provided more information about this situation. Please note that all groups created through the Fitbit app are private by default. When you create a group, you become the sole admin of that group and you will be able to invite people on your friend list to join said group. After people have joined, you can assign other admins to help.

Is there ever going ti be an update to change the privacy setting?  The reason for creating the group was so or fb group could stay connected and challenge each other.  We dont want to post all our emails on facebook but how did we invite friends.  I don't want then as my friend on facebook either.
