My custom max heart rate is going back to zero by itself, also custom min-max.

and then turns itself off.

tried restarting phone/Fitbit, logging out and deleting the app.

it is this way on another one too.

my max heart rate showing for a second and then go back to zero.. and then turns off.

Anyone know the problem?

I gave up a few months ago and bought a Garmin ForeRunner 645 Music. Yes, Garmin has its act straight and there’s no problem with manually adjusting your maximum heart rate or zones. My resting heart rate is also accurately computed (the Ionic was way off and there’s no way to adjust it).
I just installed the latest FitBit app update, and out of curiosity charged up my Ionic. No change.

As far as I can see they use the standard 220 - age. Maybe customer service were told differently or people there think they have done something in the app that isn’t there. I use a customized  max HR from Orange Theory. They track you during 20 workouts then give you an individualized max. I have bradycardia and so my heart rate was a lot lower than most everyone else at Orange Theory. I use that max HR in Fitbit. I don’t understand why Fitbit won’t just work on the app and fix this glitch.

Another app update, and guess what: this error is still not fixed. Since June. And the huge amount of whitespace on the HR overview also not. This is beyond ridiculous.

On‎12-03-2020, I documented in this thread that doing something as "simple" as changing your stride length will reset your Max HR to the default value of 220 - age.

Just another example of what appears to be sloppy development and quality assurance.

Same. I emailed support anout a month ago (Oct 2020) and now realise the problem has been around since June 2020. Instead of acknowledging it’s a problem they can’t solve, I was sent on a wild goose chase to go on the desktop, a method which I now realise from other posts here DOES NOT WORK! Fitbit customer for years. Never again.

I am in contact with what I hope is some "deeper" support or developers at Fitbit. They have asked me to send an image of what is going wrong in the app. Instead I sent them a video of what is going wrong, since I find a video is needed. So far I have received the following message upon sending the video: "We just assigned your case to the proper department. They will be in touch with you." Now, I am looking forward to hearing from THAT department and what they can do about the problem.

After all these months and innumerable postings describing precisely what is wrong with the app, they feel they need imagery from a customer to understand what’s up? And it hadn’t occurred to someone to send it to the proper experts before? I am skeptical, to say the least. 🙄

I am quite sceptical, too. But I decided to try and reach out to support instead of just writing it here in the forum. And now we shall see what it brings.

Using the desktop version didn’t work for me. And then it did. On the second try weeks after my fist attempts—perhaps after an app update?—adjusting the maximum heart rate using a browser (Brave) on a desktop “stuck” on my IOS device, and has lasted for the last three weeks or so.

I have no idea why they don’t fix the app. Apple is probably killing them now—you’d think they’d want to make sure their advertised functionality works.  And there sets plenty of usages above to show them what happens.

They seem only interested in selling devices. Unfortunately for Fitbit, there are many competing devices out there now that unlike Fitbit, also provide high-quality coaching and service.

Maybe they are just stalling waiting for Google to purchase them?

Interesting that in a "User Research" email I received the other day wanting me to take a survey to "Help us improve our exercise experience!" had a link to open positions at FitBit.

  • Twenty-six areas listed
  • Eleven areas with openings
  • Thirty-seven total openings
  • Nine - one-fourth of the total openings - in Software Engineering

So just maybe they're not totally asleep, just taking a lot of naps.

Good luck. I hope something happens. I gave up trying to find an answer with customer support. All I get is: re-install the app, relink your device, your input data is wrong, etc. I also sent an email to the CEO, but Fitbit doesn't seem to have a support line that answers these emails compared to most companies.

I have the exact same problem now - I think mine was working fine a few months ago but now this feature doesn't work

It's frustrating as I naturally have a much faster max heart rate, so all my runs are now showing me as constantly in the peak zone which really doesn't help

FitBit please prioritise this bug and resolve it ASAP otherwise a core feature of your app does not work!

I also have the same problem.  I am going to throw my Fitbit away and purchase something that actually works.  Fitbit simply does not care if their watch works correctly - just selling more.  I personally hope they go out of business.

I, too despaired of Fitbit. I now have a Garmin Forerunner 645 Music. Works just fine and my training is back on track.

Same Problem!!! It’s so frustrating as it used to work fine a year ago!

I use my Fitbit zones to help with illness recovery. I need to set a custom zone (or set the fat burning zone to much lower) to alhelí me know when i need to take a rest. This is one of the main uses I have for Fitbit and if it can’t do that, what’s the point???

fitbit- are you listening???? Have you done *anything* about this???

Hi this issue seems to be still happening 6 months from original post about it. Bit annoying as this is one of the main reasons I wanted the Fitbit

Glad I came to the forums to research this issue before I replaced my old charge 2 with the new version. I will be researching another brand, I could have fixed the code myself by now 😞
