My custom max heart rate is going back to zero by itself, also custom min-max.

and then turns itself off.

tried restarting phone/Fitbit, logging out and deleting the app.

it is this way on another one too.

my max heart rate showing for a second and then go back to zero.. and then turns off.

Anyone know the problem?

All:

Thanks you for your input, but ... Besides not being able to set my maximum heart rate, my Ionic is basing its Heart Rate Reserve calculations on a spurious resting heart rate that is much higher than what I get when I read my pulse first thing in the morning using another (highly dependable) device.

I just now opened the fitbit app and it claims that my Ionic records my heart is beating at 89 BPM. I don't even have the Ionic on my wrist! It's lying on my desk, where I left it yesterday, with no watch face showing and no green lights flashing on the underside.

I can not manually adjust anything to compensate for these bogus readings, which I could have done back before fitbit began to foist its updates on us this spring. I can still use it as a watch and GPS, but that's it. That is not why I bought it for.

I have lost faith in the Ionic and the fitbit company and am researching a replacement.

I can’t edit personal heart rates either. They turn to zero the moment I edit.

Same problem, no solution 🥺

Did you try this method which has worked for me and others?

On the web dashboard go to your settings page. You can set it there and once you save the setting and sync your device it will take.

I did it yesterday just after the firmware update and updating the iOS app to version 3.29.

Good luck and welcome to the boards.

I posted this problem with my Versa,      2 1/2 months ago. It’s finally held the custom heart rates for three weeks now.

I had to go to the website; manually change it to what I wanted. Logged out. And reset the watch. I was nervous it would take,  if I didn’t have WiFi or changed WiFi, like going to the gym.

Try those steps and hopefully it works! Now, that being said mine will go back to zero again today lol.

Weird - that is consistent with how it went a month, or so, ago.

Mine has held for approximately 43 hours.

Again - weird.

For Versa 2 there was a device update this week.  Before that (last week), I updated the app on 2 iPhones, and did a favorite reset one two devices.  I was then able to modify “max”, and “heart ranges” on the web (my Accts on www.fitbit.com dashboard) and those personal edits would push down to the iPhone app AND STICK!  If I tried to edit on the phone, same problem, so I stayed with making changes on my dashboard on the computer.....  Late this week there was an OS Update available to the Versa2 device itself.  Problem remains with trying to edit heart rates on the iPhone; still must be done on the computer web app dashboard.  Remember, after you edit on the computer dashboard that you can go into you phone and VIEW ONLY, to see if your personal changes were pushed down to your phone...

Have you tried changing the Max HR in your "Settings" page on the web dashboard and then syncing your device?

I have at least two posts, maybe three, in the thread that discusses it. Pages 5 and 6.

I do not know if it will work under version iOS app 3.28, but I know it has for me under 3.29.

Good luck and welcome to the boards.

Hi - yes, that worked, and yes it is a simple work-around. I am reporting this because FitBit staff claimed this problem is fixed. I am running the most recent of everything - IOS, app, firmware. It is still happening. The company is aware of the problem - meaning they can duplicate it in their testing environment. Since max HR can be set on their website, and it sticks, it must not be a backend problem with their data or business logic, but rather some simple flaw in the IOS app itself. It is disheartening for a company such as FitBit, with a sophisticated development team, to be unable to fix a simple, and easily replicated bug like this. We need to keep reporting flaws like this so they look at them, and also keep the heat on them to prioritize quality in their processes. I had sync problems with my previous FitBit tracker - a Charge 3. There are thousands of similar reports on the internet, including these forums, of people having the same problems. They were never fixed. I want FitBit to fix these long-standing, commonly reported bugs before they roll out shiny new features. We paid good $ for these things to work. The company owes it to us to fix stuff!

I agree with most of what you say, but I need to point out that for some of us, setting the max heart rate on the webpage does not work. I’ve tried several times, and it fails after about 30 minutes.
The company can and should fix what they broke.

Well yes, this works but it’s only a work around.  If you open your heart rate zone to check it on your mobile app it will reset to zero again.  Then back to the desktop dashboard to log back in and reset it again and so on and so on until Fitbit decides to finally fix this issue before they lose customers who have bought more than half a dozen trackers since 2015.  So frustrating.  I used to boast about my device and mobile app.

@gi_gina

I agree with your post.

@Hamms

I actually considered going over to the Series 5 in January, but didn't for two reasons:

1. I would need too many extra apps to track all of the information the FitBit iOS app provides and then would have to use other apps to merge the data into Apple Health

2. While the Series 5 ranks, in many reviews, as the best at heart rate tracking, it reportedly has the same issues with heart rate tracking when their exercise apps heart rate algorithms kick in that my Charge 3 and now Versa 2 have. There is no way I will go from 109 to 58 bpm in 28 seconds and stay there for over a minute when on the treadmill at 3 mph. But like I said, the Series 3 and 5 have the same issues.

Have a great day.

Any idea when this will be resolved? It’s been a few months now and even with the new update it’s still a problem for me!
