Deleted steps not reflected on Challenges

This afternoon I deleted 212 steps that were created whilst hoovering my car with a handheld hoover (is this normal!? I was static in the car.).

I done this by creating a driving activity for the duration of 20 minutes.

The dashboard updated to show the change however the changes haven't taken effect on any of my challenges. Right now my dashboard shows 11,896 steps by my challenges are showing 12,108 steps.

Any ideas?

Hello @SunsetRunner, I hope you're having a great day.

Basically, your tracker will adjusts its sensitivity based on how you wear it and where you wear it. If you have the setting for your non-dominant hand it will be more sensitive as it's the hand you use less and might not have much movement as your dominant one. I would like to suggest these different combinations and check which one is more effective for you:

  • Setting: Dominant Hand / Using on: Dominant Hand
  • Setting: Non-dominant Hand / Using on: Non-Dominant Hand
  • Setting: Dominant Hand / Using on: Non-Dominant Hand.

Give each one a try and keep track of your activity through the day.

I hope this can be helpful, in case you need anything else, please feel free to reply!

Hello @SunsetRunner, thanks for joining us, it's great to see new faces around! Smiley Happy

Challenges only take in consideration steps recorded automatically by the tracker, manually logged activities, do not increase or decrease the amount of steps during a challenge, these activities only modify the daily total.

I sincerely apologize for the inconveniences this issue has caused you, I hope this resolves your inquiry. In case you need anything else, please feel free to reply.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for your reply.

So, falsely recorded steps that are then "deleted" by adding a driving activity as a workaround, aren't actually subtracted from total steps recorded on a challenge? In theory then challenge steps could in some cases be inaccurate then.

If I'm honest I'm very disappointed in the overall accuracy of the device. I appreciate that it isn't a scientific/medical device but so far I have seen steps falsely recorded when I've been driving, when I've been static but hoovering the interior of my car and whilst washing my car (minus a few real steps). In addition, the device has recorded me as asleep when I indeed haven't been asleep. Is this normal behaviour or am I experiencing an issue? I have restarted the device.

Hello @SunsetRunner, thanks for taking the time to reply, I hope you're doing well.

As mentioned before, manually logged activities do not add or substract steps from your count. As "driving" needs to be logged in manually, it won't substract the steps. I understand you might be disappointed with the accuracy of the tracker. If you have already restarted your Charge 2, I would like to suggest going to your device settings on the online Dashboard and change the setting for Dominant hand as well as your sleep settings.

Usually when a bug is affecting the accuracy of any tracker, restarting it will remove it. However, if after changing your dominant hand and sleep settings you're still experiencing issues, please let me know.

Give it a try and let me know the outcome!

Marco,

Thanks again for the reply.

What do you mean by changing the setting for dominant hand?

These are my settings:

Handedness: Right

Wrist: Left

Device is being worn on the left.

Do you think changing the Wrist setting to Right but continue wearing the device on the left will make it less sensitive?
