Distance goal is incorrect on historical graph

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

There's a technical glitch in the goal settings.

I set my daily goal in terms of miles, that is 5 miles a day. And on the interface for today's goals, once I hit that 5 miles, it gives me a completed check.

However, when I look at the historical data and goals, the threshold is 8 miles and categorizes my goals as incomplete unless I hit 8 emails even thought my goal is 5 miles. I think it's bc 5 miles is 8 kilometers, so maybe the software is converting it wrong?

Long-standing problem.  Fitbit confuses units on miles and kilometers on daily distance goal.  People try to come up with ways to work around it that sometimes seem to work for a while.  Problem has been there and been reported for many years.

Help!  Purchased the Versa 3 (New) My goal on my app is 8miles a day, previous fitbit worked seamlessly with the app.

For some reason the dashboard on my versa 3 shows 15miles as my target.. I tried adjusting the goal distance in the app but the versa 3 dashboard never matches - i even changed from miles to km - still not good!

All other items such as steps, calories, water, zone minutes mirror perfectly.

Any ideas?

Distance target has a mind of its own in the horrendous new app. My daily target, set in the app, 4 miles. The today screen congratulates me for exceeding my goal. The week, month and year goals have decided its 6.5 miles and instead of congratulating me for exceeding my goal tell me I've failed almost every day. NOT MY TARGET. NOT FAILED!

I gave up on distance goals for this very reason.  I rely only on step goals.

After the update my distance miles on Inspire 3 are converting to kilometers. I have unit set to feet/miles and daily goal to 5 miles. Yet when I go into the distance icon, it shows 8.05 MILES, which is the kilometer equivalent of 5 miles.

I have my daily mileage goal set at 4 miles per day in my activity settings, but it is always set at 6 miles per day in the app ( see screen shots). This has been going on for several months. Consequently I never meet my daily step goal even though my daily average for the year is over 5 miles.
I have an iPhone 13 currently running iOS 17, using a Versa 3 and/or a Sense, Fitbit OS 4.0.1 but the problem started with version 3.9. Any way to fix this? Thank you.

Not sure this is what is happening to you, but for daily distance goal, Fitbit gets miles and kilometers confused and there's really no way to get around it.  It's been reported years ago. Some people have just given up on daily distance goal and stick with steps instead.  Certainly not saying this is a good solution but haven't found any other way to deal with it.

I don’t think it’s a kilometer thing. I looked back at my data and everything was good until an update 3.9 something. Whatever I set as my goal the app adds 2 miles to it.

i can live with it but it’s not right and it just bugs me 🤨

Thank you for the reply!

@Rge   It is a weird miles to kilometers bug that is new to the iOS app.  Android users have had a bug for some time, but I don't know the specifics of their bug.  My distance goal is 5 miles.  When I look your lower level screenshot on my app, my goal bar is at 8, because 5 mi = 8.05 km.  In your case, 4 mi = 6.43 km.  My main dashboard page is correct and the circle closes at 5 mi.  My Sense 2 Today stats gets it wrong.  It says my goal is 8.05 mi.

New version of the app released. Allegedly has bug fixes.  Didn't fix this bug 😞

I have a Versa 2. My Fitbit distance goal is set in the app at 4 miles. This is what it has been for a long time. In the past week, after the app updated, my Fitbit itself now has a goal of 6 miles. The app still says 4. I have tried adjusting it and syncing to trick it back into 4 miles, but it has not worked. I have also restarted the Fitbit. Why is my Fitbit not displaying the correct goal?

I have the same problem.

I also have this problem.

I’ve had the exact same issue. Spent an hour with Fitbit support, have tried everything to no avail. The app was fine the way it was, it’s been a mess since the update

I am using the Readiness clock face with my Charge 6. I moved from a Charge 4 and have always had a daily mileage goal of 9 miles for all the years I’ve been using my Charge 4.

When I moved to the Charge 6 that number was apparently considered to be in kilometers. and so my new goal was automatically changed to 5.59 miles in the Fitbit settings on the iPhone app. The main app screen on the iPhone also implies the goal is 5.59 miles based on the progress semicircle.

However, after having completed, let’s say, 5.50 miles, when I tap on that distance semicircle, it takes me to the Distance screen which states “5.50 of 5.59 mi”, but the semicircle on that screen shows me just over halfway to my goal implying that 9 miles really is my goal (which is what I want it to be).

Based on the example of 5.50 miles covered, the Readiness watch face on the Charge 6 shows my goal as 9 miles per day, and the distance covered as 5.5. Obviously the conversion between miles and kilometers is being done, but it’s applied incorrectly. It’s taking the set mileage goal and applying it correctly for the main screen, but converting it to kilometers and calling it miles for the Distance screen and the Readiness clock face.

To state even simpler: If I change my goal to 9 miles in the Fitbit app, the Charge 6 Readiness clock face shows my goal as 14.48 miles.

Seems like it should be an easy fix, but I’m really surprised no one caught it before it got released.

My daily mileage goal is set to 5 miles, but my weekly/monthly/yearly stats pages think it’s 8 miles, so I never get credit for those categories.

If my goal is set to 5 miles, why doesn’t that “register” for the long-term monitoring as well?

(This began happening after the last update. Customer service could not help me; they suggested this forum.)

Actually what customer service might have meant is the Product Feedback board of these boards to report problems, but this is just as well.  What I suspect, though it really doesn't match with it seeming to have just started after the last update, is a Fitbit problem confusing miles and kilometers (8 km = 5 miles).  It has been a long-standing (several years reported) Fitbit problem on daily mileage goal that Fitbit gets units confused, and I have never seen a way to make it work consistently, trying to enter goal in miles or km on phone app or on fitbit.com, so all I know is to forget distance and go by steps equivalence.

Just updated to ios app V4.02 and the same thing is happening.  In the ios app, if I select Distance and then week, it shows 5 miles as my goal.  If I go to the gear icon and then Activity and Wellness, then Daily Activity, it's set to 3.  If I log into the Dashboard and check it there, the goal is set to 3.5 miles.

Some of us users rely and use this information.  If it's not correct, what else isn't correct.  If that's the case, then what's the point of using your product?

Same issue here. Still using an older Zip. Probably degrading the service so we will switch to Google  account sooner. I have resisted getting an Apple Watch, because I have been happy with just my old Zip for years,  but just may have to go that route.
