I would love it if it Fitbit synced with the Health app from Apple. Someone please tell me it does and how to do it. I can't figure it out.

3 months update after ditching my fitbit for Apple Watch 3..................and i absolutely loved the Apple Watch 3.

First things first, it syncs to Apple Health.

Second, the "activity ring" that Apple adopts is much more realistic in terms of "fitness" than mere steps counting that fitbit adopts.

Third, the build quality of the AW3.  You can say that you get what you pay for.  It is more $ than fitbit but the extra $ returns in a superb quality product.

Fourth, it integrates extremely well with iPhone. I presume this thread is iphone users anyway.  This is why Apple dominates its own ecosystem.

Fifth, the guided Nike running coach is amazing, and you don't need to tether a phone along with it.

Sixth, the waterproofing, means I can wash my AW3 under running water after a workout.

As for sleep tracking, i downloaded a 3rd party app that tracks sleep with apple watch.  Yes, I wear that at night also.  I just prop the watch into the charger during breaks to let my wrist breathe.  It charges extremely fast, like 15 mins would get approx 30% charge.

I though I would miss my FB........but i was totally wrong, I absolutely loved the AW3.  The AW3 also provided much more productivity than otherwise looking at my phone.

I found a trick that isn't perfect, but it works pretty well. If you download the myfitnesspal app (free), fitbit with sync with myfitnesspal. Myfitnesspal will then sync with the health app. So your data gets transferred that way. It only syncs weight and steps though, no sleep data to my knowledge.

Laceyse thanks I actually have myfitnesspal and use that for tracking food since that syncs to fitbit and apple health.  The only thing is that the steps that sync from fitbit don't get sync to apple health via myfitnesspal.  myfitnesspal only sync nutrition data to apple health, so its not a complete sync picture, but definitely better than nothing.

Moderator: You said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with that non-sensical reply!

This is stupid! People no longer focus on brand loyalty simply because they like a brand. In this competitive market (and world), the businesses that are surviving are the ones that realise they have a duty to their users and their viability as a company to collaborate with companies that have products their customers want to use.

Fitbit has been giving the same “absolutely nothing” response for too long! Read the comments: many of your customers are considering other products!

Fitbit’s viability as a company is dependent on people continuing to enjoy the use of their products and be willing to share their data (the latter part of which is the true gold). If you continue to ignore a significant portion of your user base, you’ll quickly find yourselves as the next corporate casualty in a market that is as hot as lava.

This weekend, eBay has a £3 maximum Seller Fee promotion. My Fitbit Blaze and Aria will be going on it this morning!

Total Agree with SRJR. Perhaps the FitBit dream is to create a Eco System like Apple did that 'locks' there users into there products. But to do that you need to achieve a few things. One is to be market leading and continually innovative (which Apple used to be). Another is to ensure that user have an investment, financially to stick with the same system. Like buying software that only runs on a selected platform (Windows/Mac). And then there price. But this is were competition starts to hammer at you. FitBit may be the number one platform now but without serious innovation, price cutting or bending to the will of your users it won't be long before they go the way of, companies like Blackberry, Atari, Palm etc.

Unlike SRJR I won't eBay my current fit bit, but did look elsewhere for my scales. However when I replace it would probably be with a Steel HR... Plays nice with Apple Health, water resistant to 50Mtr, 25 days battery life and doesn't look like a fitness watch, meaning I don't look like I'm a fat old man trying too hard! 🙂

Lol. After I got out of bed and calmed down a bit, I decided that my Fitbit gear won’t make it to eBay today after all, purely because I like the community side of it, i.e. challenges with friends and people at work. Plus, the number of days the Blaze can go without charging is a plus over an Apple Watch.  Still, those benefits will only suffice for a time.

As you rightfully pointed out, many companies that sought to lock users into an ecosystem or failed to listen to its users or adapt to trends failed miserably or came close to it (BlackBerry is still fighting the fight in the enterprise security world :-)).

Even Microsoft now accepts the fact that not everyone will want all of their products so now design many of their products to be accessible on any platform, while still leveraging their core backend ecosystem, e.g. Office apps.  They even launch loads of apps on Android as well as iOS because they understand that people don’t only buy products, services or features, they buy benefits, whether those benefits are real or perceived.

I hope Fitbit will address this issue soon and get with the programme, otherwise reasons to buy and keep their products will becoming less and less compelling.

I imagine it’s Apple that doesn’t want to sync with Fitbit. There is hope, Apple finally offers an Amazon video app for Apple TV. Can’t purchase or rent videos through it but it’s more than I ever hoped for. If Apple has changed its policy of working with all competitors this issue may be resolved.

Only syncs one way and rewrites data without an opportunity to review it. It’s something but not what I’m looking for.

I hear you load and clear...My new "FitBit" is a Garmin HR+, syncs to apple heath and my fitness pal no issues at all...love, love, love it. GPS is a bonus and waterproof is a double bonus.  Sadly FitBit is afraid to step into the future of multiple platforms... it will definitely be their downfall.

So the answer is NO?

@xTeleDude This is all Fitbit. Don't blame Apple. Apple has an open platform regarding the ability to sync with Apple Health. Even the extremely cheap Chinese trackers sync with Apple Health. Fitbit decided it wanted to build its own competing platform and refuses to sync with Apple Health as a result.

Exactly! I suspect Fitbit’s fear is that if they allow full compatibility with the Apple Health platform, we will have more choices in terms of other devices (like scales) and apps we use in conjunction with our Fitbits.

Furthermore, being a devices company can only take Fitbit so far. The real prize is the health data our devices generate. If Fitbit controls all the data, they can use it to try to maintain a competitive edge.  It will backfire eventually though.

I'm so use to Apple not playing nice with others that it never occurred to me to blame Fitbit. Interesting point about Fitbit looking to control user data.. Kind of annoying the way Fitbit implies it's Apple compatible when it's not. I'm stuck with the Ionic for now as it was a gift. I doubt I'll be purchasing anything else from them.

Needs to!

As a former advocate for your devices, your choice not to embrace Apple has had a material impact on my continued investment in your brand. Since your post, once the market speak is parsed out, is essentially “no and we don’t have plans to do so”, you’ve move me from holding off seriously considering an Apple Watch (hoping you’d revise your long standing position) to “in the market” and also looking at replacing my Aria. I can only speak for myself, but I think it would be a curiosity if I was complete unique in this.

I love fitbit but since I use apps from multiple sources I think I will stay way until Apple Health integration comes around. For now it is Myfitnesspal and Nokia Steel HR. (Yes I know myfitnesspal can somewhat transfer apple info to fitbit and back but it is too clunky for a total solution.)

So is it because Fitbit “competes” with Apple Watch that this won’t sync?

Use the app "Power Sync". It's free and works perfectly.
