It is important to keep in mind that distance is calculated differently between the two devices. Your Fitbit will calculate distance using your stride length while the elliptical will calculate it based on an average stride length. That should account for a different, albeit a small one.
Having said that, you could manually enter the activity into your account so that it show up with the correct information.
