Exercise not being recorded on Fitbit app

My Fitbit app is no longer recording any exercise. For example this morning I went for a walk and started my versa 3 with gps to record the exercise.  It is showing on my versa 3 but will not show on the app. Likewise I did a treadmill session at lunchtime, started my versa 3 and it recorded the session but won’t show on the app.
I’m on an iPhone 12 running iOS 17.6.1

fitbit app version 4.24

I have so far done the following:

updated the app and moved over to google
force closed the app and restarted

turned my phone off and on

restarted my versa 3.
None of this has helped so now my versa 3 is pretty useless.
I was looking to upgrade to a versa 4 but not if this continues.
How do I get my exercise logs back please?

Now that Fitbit seems back on track, the company needs to do a little “make good” to its users. How about a free year of Premium?

Not for me it isn't.  Maybe it's because I have a Charge 2?  No change for me sadly.

I'm baffled as to why mine is (sort of) working. There hasn't been an update of any kind (I've been checking daily).

Best Answer

Versa 3, here, no change. Previous to May, no record of any exercise days, just zone minutes.

I didn't have any updates either, it just started working - I'm still running the same fitbit version as previously.  I really don't understand it.  I hope it starts working for everyone soon.

This may have been an issue on Google’s server and not the Fitbit application running on your device.

Juan - my historic data is visible again, but nothing new as I have stopped using the app and my device. I purchased an alternative over a week ago and Google has lost my business. A learning for you and your team - communicate!

Speaking as someone who has been a development manager and service manager for a major business, this issue has been handled VERY badly - in fact, it doesn’t seem to have been handled at all. Everyone went into hiding and refused to answer questions. As a result, individuals wasted a lot of time trying to solve the problem themselves - when clearly that wasn’t possible.

A lot of goodwill has been lost - and a poor taste left.

A very serious ‘lessons learned’ must be conducted.

Juan, please be informed that the historical data is not correct. The current week might be showing up, but August shows that I didn't exercise at all the last week of August and I exercised my usual schedule that week. No variations. It's as if the data is stacked up to the first part of the month. Please tell the programmers that the historical data is still incorrect! And yes, I have updated the app and turned off my phone and restarted it.

----

Here's an example of the incorrect recording of data. I always go to the gym on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday - Wednesdays and Saturdays are off days. You can see that all the exercise days are bunched up at the START of the month and that's not how things happened in an historical sense.

I couldn’t have said it any better. 👍🏾

Most months are like this; however, the site would only allow one photo upload.

100% agree. I have used a fitbit device for almost 10 years and the device/app have worked seamless for years, it's even connected with my food diary so data can be transferred between the two with a click of a button.  I'm happy that this issue has been resolved before I decided to switch brands, but really need better communication of known issues so loyal customers can be assured that the company knows what's going on and is actively seeking a solution.  Based on my interactions with the customer representatives, it didn't seem like they had any clue that this was an issue or that anyone was working on it.

Chiming in again....

Yesterday (9/24), I saw that version 4.26 of the app was available, so I immediately uninstalled v. 4.25.2 and installed the 4.26 update. This did not change anything for me. The app synched to my One, updated my battery level, and displayed the daily/current step count for 9/24, but all my steps & historical data at least from August 27 - going on almost 1 month now - are still missing and did NOT reappear when I installed v. 4.26. Today, 9/25, yesterday's data is missing, which is the ongoing problem - data there for that day only and not visible/missing/gone the next. This is extremely frustrating!

I was so hoping this update would've fixed things for my data to reappear. I was considering finally updating my One to a newer Fitbit device, but if the app continues to have issues, I guess it's time for me to look for another product.

Good news and not so good. The app update means my exercise has shown up today, but the other days' data is still missing . Shame. Wonder if this information is retreivable from somewhere? I used to be able to get direct access to all my data via Fitbit.com, so thought the past history would still be available there,  but all I get now is access to my profile and none of the other settings. Anyone else found Fitbit.com changed, and where is our data?

Loved the dashboard on fitbit.com. I don't have a smart phone (tablet only), and the dashboard is where I actually preferred to sync by dongle & view my data. The last I checked, all my historical data was on the app up through August 26. Starting on August 27, my step count disappeared. I can view it on whatever the current day is but tomorrow it will disappear. I gave up a few weeks ago looking back to August 26 and beyond, so for all I know, all my historical data from 2015 is gone.

However, someone suggesting downloading my data, which I did, and I converted it & uploaded it into a spreadsheet. So I can see my step number, but I can't make sense of them, meaning I'm not sure what measurement increment it's in, so even if I wanted to manually enter my data since August 27 to current, I don't know what to enter, and by that point, what good is the app if I'm doing manual labor for something that's supposed to be happening automatically?

Having the Fitbit.com dashboard was awesome…and then Google did away with it and drove everyone to the app, which, as we now know, isn’t perfect or reliable. So they fixed something that wasn’t broken (the online dashboard) and broke something that had been ok (the app).

Same here, I even took a screenshot of my cycling workout with the map and all, and it disappeared from the board , even the workout I enter manually because the FitBit is not accounting them, disapear ... this is just not what it used to be.. I'll be looking for another app and watch...

Doing away with the website Fitbit.com dashboard was a terrible decision by Google. It was the only place where you could modify your exercise types. I noticed a few weeks ago that the “Time in each zone” for an exercise session always shows 100% light which is incorrect. I’m not sure when it broke. But what is worse is that sometimes my exercise isn’t recorded even if I started and stopped it correctly and if it does record it the app usually reports incorrect start times, stop times, and durations. At first I thought there was a problem with my Fitbit Blaze, but after reading these posts I believe the Fitbit app has been broken in the last few updates. I really liked the Fitbit app before Google started “modifying” it.

Fixed? As far as I know, the issue is STILL NOT fixed.
