Exercise not being recorded on Fitbit app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit app is no longer recording any exercise. For example this morning I went for a walk and started my versa 3 with gps to record the exercise.  It is showing on my versa 3 but will not show on the app. Likewise I did a treadmill session at lunchtime, started my versa 3 and it recorded the session but won’t show on the app.
I’m on an iPhone 12 running iOS 17.6.1

fitbit app version 4.24

I have so far done the following:

updated the app and moved over to google
force closed the app and restarted

turned my phone off and on

restarted my versa 3.
None of this has helped so now my versa 3 is pretty useless.
I was looking to upgrade to a versa 4 but not if this continues.
How do I get my exercise logs back please?

Did you ever fix the problem?

Same ?.  If this ever gets fixed, it'd be nice to know.  My family got tired of me complaining about this issue and gave me an apple watch.  I wouldn't buy another fitbit product.

A few months ago, my Fitbit started tracking everything again, just as it should. No reason or explanation why it began working, it just happened. As long as it keeps working, I'll keep using the watch. Just recently, "cardio load" tracking showed up on my device. It's not something I track or care about...or understand how it complements or competes with "active zone minutes."

I've hesitated to go the Apple route because those watches have more features than I want ..and put more of a drain on the battery, so it needs frequent charging. I might have to find an alternative to my Fitbit Charge 6 at some point, just not now.

Lucky u.  Wonder Y?  Mine has not tracked any exercise on the app for >3 months.  I haven't tossed it out hoping they will fix the app and I can use it again.

With no announcement from Fitbit, my Android app started showing all
exercise sessions, albeit in a different place from earlier versions. Who
knew?

I was coming here to post the same thing... @Juan yesterday I decided to try my Charge 2 and it started showing the automatically detected walking sessions. Just the walks though, so its a start.
I did a spinning session and a workout , but those I had to enter manually, funny that it would show the time at which I started based on the duration and show me my heart rate and calories... so its kinda of halfway there i guess.

there is hope! its a good start for 2025 !

*EDIT* February 2025

the exercices I add manually do not stay in the app anymore - they will show up when I enter them in MyFitness Pal and stay in the Fitbit app, but not directly when manually adding the workout the the Fitbit plateform.  😞

@Spinnergrl Thank you for letting us know about your findings.
I'll pass them to our team so that they are aware of the changes and how they are looking for all of you.

This will help them with the investigation.

Hopefully this gets solved soon.

No. It still won't display the GPS track for exercises that I initiated on
the tracker device. Seems to only display GPS track for exercises
initiated on my phone. And that GPS information is very inaccurate.

Another month on and still no resolution. My Fitbit experience is getting even worse now as even though the watch records the activity, nothing appears in the app, and the auto recognition of the exercise is not really working now either. I cannot really believe this has gone on for so long. My watch is now just a watch, it is no longer an exercise tracker and not fit for purpose. Now exploring my other options and it sure as heck will not be a Fitbit or Google watch. As a customer for so many years, I loved the Fitbit brand, but my experience is now totally soured by all of this. Awful.

I have the same issue. Fitbit versa 2 not recording exercise in app. Very frustrating!!!

Best Answer

I have just read 8 pages dating back to last year, hoping there would be a solution to this issue which apparently so many of us are experiencing. The Fitbit has become a watch and as a long-time user, that is so disappointing - as it was such a great tool for so many years. Seems it all went to hell after the dashboard was updated to a worse version. I can handle that, but this is just unacceptable. Not tracking my exercises really makes it a useless gadget.

I cannot majually add or edit any exercises. Any exercise I add disappears immediately. Any that I edit (for instance if I get interrupted and forget to end the activity) does not save my changes. I might have to start tracking exercise in MyFitnessPal which seems absurd.

I just posted a message about this issue to Fitbit via BlueSky. Maybe that will get this issue renewed attention?

Ya hopefully it’ll spur them on to devote more resources to the issue, which at the moment is approximately 0.01 FTE.

that would be really great, I was looking at other options, and the FItBit plateform is the best for me , i get to see everything at once.. I really hope they fix it !

I now have the same issue with exercise not being recorded in the app. When I add it manually, I can see the GPS data - but only for a moment and then it disappears again.

I did upgrade to a newer device thinking that it would be really cool to track more health data but it was clearly faulty as it was trying to convince me that I was having a heart attach every five minutes. None of the stats match with my older one so I sent it back.

Now with this issue of not being able to log  in online AND not being able to see my exercise history, I am seriously wondering if it is worth even keeping my older HR2.

Hi there, just wondered if you ever got this fixed? I've tried all the steps online and I have the exact same issue as you with my Charge 6. Big thanks!
