Feedback about the Fitbit app.

one can wonder what come's first for the company Fitbit: good app's or publicity:

After having bought a new ionic I find out that publicity is more important to Fitbit than using the watch:

- the mobile app is the most complete with good info. (However there is a daily problem in getting a proper sync. The tracker is not found even though i restarted bluetooth, the mobile..on and on.)

- the i-pad (ios) app is not possible to be used because publicity comes first while the app keeps you waiting and waiting and you must accept/reject all sorts of garbage...a missary.

I can't use the app...unless i upgrade...I could hope the i-pad sync would be better, but I don't know.

So why buying a watch if publicity is more important than a normal functionality

- the macbook (ios) app is the third option and this one works without sync problems (yet) but contains less info as the mobile app.

Hi there, @MEXBE. I'm not sure why you posted. We are here to help and encourage each other ... answer questions when we can. If you have something specific you would like guidance on, please let us know.

I can tell you in general that Fitbit (and other companies) have been playing catch up with Apple and all of their upgrades. The best way to make sure all the devices are communicating is to:

  1. Remove your Ionic from the app, then make sure you are on the latest version of the fitbit app.
  2. On your iPhone, go to the Bluetooth settings and Forget your Ionic.
  3. Make sure you are on the latest IOS version.
  4. Give everything a couple minutes then add your Fitbit device to the Fitbit app again. It will automatically lead you thru the steps of connecting to Bluetooth.

Once all the apps are up to date and communicating with each other, things should go much smoother for you.

Thank you for your reactions. Thats great.

Sync is easy on the macbook. On the android phone, it's as if no other wifi connections should be there. If i'm in a room alone, it might be better to get synced. On the mini ipath I can't get started. I don't find usefull info that gide me...Even after removing and reinstalling the app.

The battery of the watch is limit. A bike ride of 4h, with a pause of an hour, is too much. Good that the ride is stored until the watch go's down.

The watch flips ones my hearth-rate gets up (+160). I'm 60y and my max hr is 184. Yet the fitbit gave me a max hr of 205. Next time i'll compare hr (avg and max) with Mio measurements.

The altitudes are exaggerated as well. I can give you comparing figures of Mio and garmin if you like.

differences between Fitbit and a Mio navigation  (simultaneous registration of 1 bike ride):

distance 109 (fitbit) –      114,4 km (mio)

moving time: 4.00.53 (fitbit) - 4.14.12 (mio)

avg Speed: 27,2 (fitbit)  – 27 (mio)

Elevation: 751 (fitbit) – 640 hight meters (mio)

Hartrate avg: 131 – 131

Max HR: 167 (fitbit) – 169 (mio)

calories: 2223 - 2192 Kl

avg power: 138 - 129w

Conclusion: only elevation is 17% higher on Fitbit. Perhabs a correcting facting on elevation might be good in an update...

All other registrations are comparable, what is good.

Dear, you might be of help

by telling me how to get started on an ipad?

I tried lots of things but can’t get started with it:

- watch settings: bleutooth connect to headphone – new device

- ipad: all settings after having installed the app fitbit connect as well as fitbit heath….

When using the macbook, I can’t find how to start sync from the fitbit site: nothing on the fitbit dashboard, settings or profile.

Best regards

Hello @MEXBE, I hope you're doing well, thanks for replying once again. Smiley Happy

I'll be glad to help you get started in your iPad. First, make sure your iPad is on the list of compatible devices. If it is, download the Fitbit app by going to the App Store in your iPad, make sure to change the Store from "iPad Store" to "iPhone Store" to locate the app.

If your tracker is already paired to your account you will only need to open the app, it will automatically start a sync. Remember to turn off the Bluetooth on your phone if it's nearby to prevent its signal to interfere with the syncing process. There's no need to adjust anything on your Fitbit tracker.

Now, if you'd like to use a Macbook, please download the Fitbit Connect Software, make sure Bluetooth is on on your computer and open Fitbit Connect, in here you will have the option to "Sync Now", once you click it you will be prompted to log in to your account, once you log in the sync will start automatically. Depending on how old your Macbook is, you might need a USB dongle (which is included in some Fitbit models), but if it's a recent model, the native Bluetooth on the Macbook will work just fine.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, don't hesitate to reply.
