Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the App store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/22

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

I have one problem: I have an iOS 10 device and can't update Fitbit, but at least I have 3.00. Can you probably create a "legacy" Fitbit app for older devices?

Alarm missing from iOS v.3.0 app.  See details here...

So I got my Charge 3 today previously I was using an Apple Watch and I was fairly excited to use the app and compare stats with my wife for today.

I then spent the better part of 2 hours studying the user manual, searching the internet to see why my app was so different, only to find it’s a “new” interface...

Quickly my excitement turned to disappointment. I now have a VERY basic interface compared to that of my wife, which is VERY user unfriendly and feels as if I have a cheaper or “lite” version.

Who the heck has multiple and inconsistent user experiences for the same app?

Please release the tile version of the app as an alternative for the people who like a “full blown design” rather than the new “lite” design because when it comes to stats less is not more...

@SunsetRunner please read that thread again. It specifically explains how to set the alarm through the Fitbit app.

Yes @Lindsaycza. Fitbit is slowly rolling out a new UI and soon everybody will see the same.

Did you read the What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

No I didn’t read that but thanks. That being said, how do I opt out of the invitation only trial interface? Since I actually wasn’t given an option.

I truly do not like the UX and I’d like to revert to the current standard interface. Which as a new user I find way more user friendly.

The new dashboard has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. On the old dashboard, you could see everything without scrolling (a TRUE dashboard like on your car - you don’t have to scroll to see how much gas you have or how fast you’re driving...). Every time I get a challenge invitation, it pushes the items I want to see down the list (e.g. heart rate and sleep) and and I have to edit and re-order the items each time. Old challenges stay on the “dashboard,” again pushing all of your personal stats further down the list  causing you to have to scroll forever to find them (unless you want to edit the order of items all over again and again and again...). Also, the Sneak Peek feature no longer works on the challenges I’ve been invited too. Not to mention the bland graphics - it seems like the current dashboard took a big step backwards. PLEASE bring the old dashboard back! I truly hope you take the feedback from your users into serious consideration.

I am very unhappy with the upgrade. I would also like to revert back to the old version. There are absolutely no improvements, but only rearranging. May of the features we had no longer work (sneak peak). There is no order for challenges (starting, in process, ended). Please give us back the old version.

I hope so.😊

I love the new layout! But I wish that I could create the weekly challenges. I can only accept them! Kind of frustrating

@Dieselgirl56 can you not create a challenge by going to the "Discover" tab, then selecting "Challenges & Adventures", then selecting "See All" in the challenges section?

Dear @LizzyFitbit ,

seems that my (and not only mine) issue with "3rd party scale app" is totally forgotten.

Your colleagues from customer support do not answer after they have sent generic mail back. While there is no any news here on community forum.

In meanwhile, mine hopes that update of Fitbit app. would brought solution, where proved to be false, after installing it and seeing no progress.

would you please advise, what would be next step from Fitbit in order to resolve this issue.

regards,
Ljubisa

Hey @richmix well that's the beauty of being a programmer, if they don't make the dashboard I want, I can make my own.

I like the device and its information, I just dislike their layout and UX. However they do provide all the tools for me and any developer to create anything well please, it's pretty cool of them. Most companies bolt down the door and don't give you a choice.

I'd love for the Fitbit team to listen to us, but if not... No train smash.

Pity to hear that they sweep things under the rug though.

Also - I cannot get notifications to work since the app updated to the new dashboard. Using a Charge 3 and iPhone 8. Says I need to pair my Charge 3 with it for notifications and the wheel just keeps spinning and spinning and then freezes.

I miss getting notifications. Frustrating.

Interesting, @SunsetRunner - my app upgraded to OS 3.0 and I haven't been able to pair my Charge 2 with my iPhone XS anymore. Don't know what's going on! (I don't have the new dashboard yet)

I just went to the thread on not receiving notifications and found a solution - https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Not-receiving-phone-and-text-notifications/m-p/3583053#M1079...

I basically had to re-pair the device with the app. Maybe this will work for you.

I tried this suggestion from there and it seemed to work for my Charge 3 on my iPhone 8:

  1. Remove the Charge 2 (or other device) from the Bluetooth settings - (mine had to say "Forget this device" after tapping on the "i" next to Charge 3 under Bluetooth.)
  2. Make sure the Bluetooth is disabled in any other device nearby, such as phones, tablets or computers.
  3. Open your phone's settings and tap on Notifications.

  4. Tap on Messages and make sure the three options under "Alerts" are turn toggled
  5. Also, verify that the option "Show In History" or "Show Previews" is set to "Always".

  6. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account icon.
  7. Tap on the option to setup a device and choose the Charge 2.
  8. Follow the onscreen instructions and wait until your device syncs.
  9. When prompted to pair via Bluetooth, tap on "Pair".

With most third party scales the manufacturer is responsible for their link up to Fitbit. Have you contacted them.

Are you seriously telling me that this is a problem with their app? Everything worked great until I updated the FB app and now it is their problem. C’mon man.

I'm saying that if a third party scsle does not sync, it will most likely be a problem with their connection.

If it worked before the iOS app update, and is no longer working after the update, it almost goes without saying that there is an issue with the connection (something with the API).  The question is who the customer holds responsible for the API being broken.
