Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the App store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/22

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

I cannot stand this update!! Anyway to go back?! 😭 It was so much easier to look quickly at how you’re doing on all of your goals before. The new dashboard is dull and less motivating.

I may have found A solution that will work for a small number of users. While my primary device is an iPhone, I also have an Android device. I installed the Fitbit on the Android and when first opening it was asked if I wanted the new or older user experience. I choose to stay with the old which seems to work. It did tell me that I would be reminded to update (they called it update, I call it a downgrade) in the future. Hopefully I won't be forced to go to the new crap. It does mean that I'm using the app on my secondary device, but at least it works, and is useful again. I'm wondering if reinstalling on the iPhone will allow me to get the old version again.

I feel the same way. It’s unfortunate but I am also considering a device from another manufacturer. It seems like Fitbit got too big and they forgot about where they came from. Sad, very sad.

Please bring back the old dashboard layout. The old dashboard was engaging and motivating, and I spent a lot of time interacting with it to better understand my health and habits. I completely regret switching to the new version. I thought I would get used to it after a while, but even now that I'm used to it, I still find the new dashboard unattractive, less user-friendly, and frustrating. Previously, I could see all my items at the same time and they were easy to distinguish and read at a glance. The interface was attractive and so easy to use. The new layout is so bland, and it's hard to distinguish between the various items without taking time to look closely at them, which means I'm no longer using the dashboard at all while I'm exercising--I used to use it frequently. It makes me grouchy and I hardly ever use the dashboard anymore at all. I loved my Fitbit and the app until this change. Now I'm not even motivated to check out my stats. My app is working properly, unlike many others on this thread, but it's so poorly designed I've fallen out of love with my Fitbit.

Please offer the option to return to the old dashboard.

Thank you.

Exactly! It makes my brain hurt.

I dislike it too. So slow, counter-intuitive and takes ages to synch.

is it the firmware or software update that’s done this?

Please someone tell me how to change back to previous version.

This new interface fails the basic test of a good UI AND UX. Does it enhance the use of the device. This update is such a crap experience is making me re-evaluate buying an Apple Watch.

Whoever decided that it was a good idea to merge my daily information with my challenges needs to go on a UX course. These are two completely unrelated sets of data. One set is about me and the other is about those I choose to interact with and that interaction.

To make matters worse every time I accept a challenge it appears in between my stats and I have to move it down. If you are making the thing modular, MAKE IT ALL MODULAR AND HAVE IT STICK where I put it.  Otherwise leave the **ahem** thing alone.

Finally the fact that I have to continually scroll to see what I want to see rather then changing tabs is a stupid change to the UI.

Thanks Ged H

Can I roll back the updates? If so, how?

We all feel the same but it's proven that none of our concerns or feedback
are going to be rectified to how we prefer. I'm also looking at Apple when
the 5 is released

  • I find it hard to believe that someone  from Fitbit Customer Services hasn’t replied to the concerns posted here from their Fitbit Customers. I for one am seriously unhappy and am still waiting to hear back from them .  The new dashboard is dreadful  and has made the Fitbit user experience a nightmare.  Please Fitbit customer services help....owning a Fitbit is beginning to equate as a stressful experience judging by what I’m reading on this community.

I still don’t have this despite deleting the app and downloading again! When is your rollout due to end? Do I have a fault? My family have all had the new version for weeks now

I would like to do the same thing, unfortunately I don't think it's possible. I'm not a fan , really dislike the design of the new app, I think the previous one was perfect, information was clear, I don't like this new app design at all.

So why aren't Fitbit Listening?

While I don’t like the design of the update,  I can learn to live with it. For me though, it’s the broken features of the App that have me wanting to walk.

I can’t start Challenges (I know how it’s meant to be done on this layout, but it doesn’t work for me. Says I’m at my challenge limit when I am not)

I cant sneak peak

The sorting function on the Today page doesn’t stick - have to resort things multiple times a day

I got an email response from Fitbit. They acknowledge they’re aware of the issues but say they don’t have an immediate solution.

Do not like the new ‘Dashboard’ as it is no longer a dahsboard where you can see everything at one - it is now a list that you have to scroll. Preferred the ‘Tiles’ look - perhaps we could be offered the option of choosing that? Bring back the tiles PLEASE!

@bradnsj Given that it has been 10 days and more than 80 posts since @LizzyFitbit or any other moderator has posted in this thread (and she's active elsewhere right now), it appears that Fitbit has decided that they have nothing more to say on this topic.

Kind of sad, actually.  There have been "problems" in the past (I've had various Fitbits for >4 years), but I don't remember the Company disengaging like this.

They might as well just close the thread.

Customer services came back to me yesterday with a list of things to do regarding the Alta syncing issue. I had already done everything suggested many times over but decided to give it another shot and it worked! After 5 days and hours spent trying to resolve this issue, I was relieved beyond belief but my relief however was short lived . I noticed this morning my silent alarm didn’t go off, indeed it is now missing from the face of my Alta and the set alarm feature is missing on my new dashboard so there is no way I can even try and set a new alarm to see if that would work.
The new dashboard.... I loathe it because it seems when one issue is resolved another occurs. This is frustrating beyond belief. Is anyone at Fitbit even reading what we post here...and if not...Why not?
Many of us use trackers because we want to improve our overall health which would enable one to reduce stress. Using Fitbit since the implementation of the new dashboard has become a less than pleasant experience and overall quite stressful. Please Fitbit take on board our concerns or I suspect that when the time comes to replace our trackers we might be looking elsewhere.

I have this same issue. Can't create challenges. Can't sneak peek. Deleted, and reinstalled app. Rebooted iphone. Very frustrating. Very hard to politely tell someone I can't accept your challenge because I'm maxed out if they've invited me with the rematch button.

@Poppyrussell please follow the instructions listed above, or use the same alternative procedures that has always been availible.

Press the account or your tracker. If account was trapped then let's press the tracker. Now tap silent alarm.

@OwenC what happens when you try to create a challenge? Any error messages?
