Fitbit app says there is no internet connection

I keep getting messages, on the Fitbit app on my iPhone, that there is no internet connection. The message will also say that I need to connect to view historical data. This is the only app that has that issue and my settings do show that I've got good WiFi signal strength (I also have an extended network to enhance the signal strength in certain areas of the house). The messages go away, temporarily, if I refresh the network on the phone but it's aggravating.

Hi @kchris5174, I'm glad to hear from you. I'm sorry for the delay in my response.

Thanks for sharing detailed information about what's displayed on the Fitbit app. I see your point of vie and thanks for your efforts in getting this fixed. This sounds strange, and I'm wondering if the same happens when using mobile data. Also, does the message appear when trying to sync? If you've not done so, I'd recommend the following steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app. For instructions see the Apple help article.
  2. Reboot your phone.
  3. Reboot your router by turning it off and on.
  4.  Make sure the Fitbit app is updated.

I'll be around, so let me now how it goes.

Thank you. It's not a major showstopper but sometimes a little aggravating and only happens with this app. What does seem to work is to refresh the network in my phone settings (WiFi). I have two networks and it happens with both. If I select a network in my phone settings, even if it's the network I'm on at the time, the message goes away. I assume that would be a "refresh" of that network since the spinning icon comes on and then goes away when the connection is recognized. It's not worth putting in a lot more effort but mostly felt that you might want to be aware of the phenomenon.

Hi @kchris5174, It's nice to see you again.

Thanks for getting back and sharing more details about this behavior. I understand that it's frustrating to refresh the networks in your phone's settings, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. As mentioned above, this is actually a strange behavior and if you continue receiving that message, please provide me with the information requested above, and try the steps from my previous post to see how it goes.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Still exhibits the strange behavior. While doing so it seems to inhibit my Flex's ability to count my hourly steps. But total steps are still being tallied. The message will say to "connect to the Internet to view historical data" or "no Internet connection". At the same time my other apps, which depend upon the Internet, are happily humming along. In one recent instance three apps were downloading updates, without any problem, at the same time that the error messages were displayed.

Hi @kchris5174, I'm glad to see you around.

Thanks for letting me know that the same keeps happening just with the Fitbit app, as well for your efforts in checking if this was affecting your other apps. To investigate with my team, please provide me with the following information:

  • iPhone's model and OS version.
  • Fitbit app version.
  • Screenshot of the error message. For instructions to attach a picture in your reply, check this post.
  • Have you tried the steps shared in my previous post.

I'll be looking forward to your reply.
