Perhaps they don't want to. Apple could be seen as competition in this space.

In my opinion, if fitbit adds this option its for their benefit as people might switch to apple watch or any other wearable that updates ios health for their next upgrade. I think a lot of fitbit users use iphones and this will only help them.

There are different app integrations available nowadays, that are not supported by Fitbit. Rest assure we are watching closely as it matures and look for opportunities on how this other integrations can improve the Fitbit experience.
In the meantime you can share your comments on the suggestion shared by @SteveH. I'm agree with him, since this is the best way to make your voice heard. Our product team looks forward to reading and incorporating your suggestions into future versions of Fitbit trackers and apps.
