Fitbit friend's messages can't be read

I have a FITBIT Charge 2 - i get notifications that i have received a message from a FITBIT Friend, 

so i click on Notifications

Clik on messages = here i have a list of messages

but next when i click on the messages it simply opens the friend profile - BUT not the message

i have several messages, but unable to read any of them and it is frustrating. where am i going wrong?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @yoga123, hope you're doing great!  If you receive a message from a friend, or if someone cheers or comments on a post you created in the Fitbit community, you'll receive a notification in the Fitbit app. You can view all of your notifications on the Notifications tab in the Fitbit app. If you receive a private message from a friend, you can also find your message on the Notifications tab. If you have new notifications, you'll see a red circle over the Notifications tab to let you know you have new messages to read. 

If this is what you're referring to, at this moment the Community tab is only available for customers in the US. It's possible that if you have set your country to other one, the Community tab will not show up. 

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if you have set your country to US and you're still not able to see the Community tab, please let me know so I can check this further. 

Additionally, I recommend checking if your app is updated by following the instructions provided in the How do I update the Fitbit app for iOS? post. Also, I suggest logging out and logging back in from your Fitbit account.
