OK, so this thread has been running for almost a year.
This defect has only just happened 2 weeks ago for me, and I finally got around to trying to fix it.
I followed the 'solution i.e. switch them both off and on gain, and it didn't work
WTF ?

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great day!
If you haven't already done so, please check the following three GPS-related settings on your iOS device:
1. Make sure your device can track your activity when you're out of WiFi range. To do so, tap Settings > Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is on.
2. Make sure the app can track GPS when your device is locked. To do so, tap Settings > General > Background App Refresh and make sure it's on for both the phone and Fitbit specifically.
3. Make sure your device is able to identify your location. To do so, tap Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure it's on.
4. When starting a GPS activity, please turn off the WiFi on your phone as while you're tracking a GPS exercise it might try to connect to a WiFi network if there's one nearby and that might affect the GPS functionality and the map might not be recorded correctly.
I hope this can be helpful, if after checking this you're still getting the same message, please feel free to reply, I'll be happy to continue helping you.

Hello @NacoleDillon, I hope you're doing well, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, unfortunately it seems the picture you tried to attach to your post didn't come through. If you'd like to upload it again, please follow these steps.
Now, for your missing map, as you're able to see the run in the online Dashboard, it's possible the information in the app hasn't synced correctly with the information stored in our servers, in which case I would like to suggest you the following:
If you'd like to see the run and map in the online Dashboard but you're still getting an error, please clear the cache on your browser and try again.
I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Same has happened to me today - did the MoonWalk and no map shows....displays the total miles walked, but even the steps for the day haven't registered as we started just before midnight and so showing 1 day not both. Disappointing.

Same here. Last map was 5 July 2018. Did a run on Saturday 25 August 2018 and one this morning ( 27 August 2018) and no GPS map shows, only the run summary. Why no map? Getting a little tired of the poor customer response from Fitbit. I have useless Aria scales that won’t connect, and now this. Before you ask, I have rebooted both my Blaze and phone, and checked my settings. Nothing has changed since July except no recording of map.
UPDATE:
Okay, may have solved my issue. Noticed that when I select RUN on my Blaze, it use to say ‘Connecting to Phone’ but lately it hasn’t. There is a small menu setting under RUN and it has an option ‘Use phone GPS’. That was set to off. I have turned it back on so hopefully now will work. Will test it out next run.

Do you need to actually be carrying your phone for the map function to work? I was hoping that the FitBit would record my route and then load it when I get home to my phone. I really do not want to carry my phone with me while I run.

Hello @LeeMNichols, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your question with us. Please note that all of our devices can track your exercise, run or walk, automatically. The devices will track your distance as well. However, if you'd like your exercise to be tracked with GPS so you can get a map at the end of it, you will need to have your phone with you. This feature is called connected GPS and works with the Charge 2, Blaze, Charge 3 and Versa. If you have an Ionic or a Surge, you don't need your phone with you as these devices have GPS integrated.
I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.
