I’ve been a long time user of Fitbit but this latest situation is enough to start having me look around for alternatives.
I have enabled GPS successfully on two long distance activities (39km & 30km) and when attempting to retrieve the map post exercises, I get an annoying little loading circle in the app that never produces the actual map. On the web version I get blank page for the exercise details. Clearly something is wrong.
However, on shorter runs everything appears to work fine. I’ve done my research on this and it appears to have been an identified issue since early 2017(!). How on earth does Fitbit let this continue? Not holding my breath here, but has anyone found a workable solution??

I've a Blaze and GPS enabled in iOS - no tracked exercise, regardless of distance, shows a map anywhere on the iOS app. Hasn't for a long time. Its a feature I greatly miss.

I'm having the same issue and Fitbit says its their software as of a few days ago, they say they are working on it. Updated today and still the same problem of the map not populating.

Hello @Podannika, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community! @J_T_W and @Siegfriedehmke, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around. It's great to see you too @MakMak
@Siegfriedehmke which tracker are you currently using? Are you using connected GPS or are you using MobileRun inside the Fitbit app to record your path? This information will be very helpful for me to check this further.
@Podannika, which tracker are you currently using? Since when have you experienced this situation? Are you able to see the message "Connected" when starting a GPS activity?
@J_T_W, when you start a connected GPS activity on your Blaze, are you able to see any error messages or does the Blaze shows "connected"? Please note that in order for a path to be recorded by your Blaze when performing a connected GPS activity the following is necessary:
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and your tracker is connected (paired) to the phone. To confirm, go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and make sure you see Blaze on the list of devices.
- You selected an exercise type from the Exercise menu that has a gear icon in the bottom left corner. The gear icon represents connected GPS.
- GPS is turned on for the exercise type. Tap the gear icon and make sure the Use Phone GPS setting is on.
- Your phone is within about 20 feet of your tracker.
- Your phone can identify your location and can track your location when you're not using Wi-Fi. For more information on which phone settings you may need to adjust, see How do I use multisport or exercise mode on my tracker?
- The Fitbit app is open on your phone or running in the background. Do not force quit the Fitbit app
After verifying all the requirements, try using GPS again by following the instructions in How do I use multisport or exercise mode on my tracker?
If you're still having difficulty, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Open the Fitbit app to reestablish a connection with your tracker.
- Reboot your mobile device.
I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

@MarcoGFitbit - (insert forehead slap here) - I've had the Blaze configured for years and totally forgot the per-exercise GPS connect option. That was it. Seems it turned off at some point (everything else was configured as it was supposed to be). All back and working with maps. Thanks!

Hello @J_T_W and @Siegfriedehmke, thanks for taking the time to reply, I hope you're doing well.
@J_T_W, I appreciate you have come back and let me know your issue has now been resolved, I'm very glad.
@Siegfriedehmke, please note that the Fitbit Ionic has built-in GPS. When you select a GPS exercise, Ionic vibrates when it finds a GPS signal. If Ionic doesn't find a signal immediately, keep in mind that environmental factors including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover can interfere with your watch's ability to connect to GPS satellites.
For best results, wait for Ionic to find the signal before you start your workout However, if you don't want to wait you can start your workout and GPS tracking begins when Ionic finds a signal. I would like to also suggest you to restart your Ionic by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen.
I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I’m using a Charge 2 and the iPhone app and I have the same problem: map not showing for long runs, neither on the iOS nor on the web. The location is being recorded though: I’ve connected my Fitbit and my Runkeeper accounts and I can see the map on the Runkeeper app!
