Getting "Zip isn't syncing because your iPod touch's Bluetooth is off." message

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After updating to the latest iOS app(2.41.1), my fitbit Zip will not sync to my iPod.  It worked fine before the update and works fine using a PC and dongle.  The problem is the Bluetooth is actually on and the fitbit app is incorrectly detecting it is off.  It presents the red triangle with exclamation point and text "Zip isn't syncing because your iPod touch's Bluetooth is off."

Hello @SunsetRunner, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, at this moment I would like to suggest you the following:

  • Turn off Bluetooth on your iPod while the app is open, then turn it back on. (Try this multiple times) until the tracker starts syncing.
  • Force-close the app by double tapping the button on your iPod and swipe up the app.
  • Log out from the app, restart your iPod and log back in.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Tried all that to no avail. When the error does go away by turning
Bluetooth off and on while the app is open, it will not sync. It just
shows the last sync by pc. See screenshot.

Hello @SunsetRunner, I hope you're having a great day, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

Unfortunately, the screenshot you sent didn't come through, would it be possible for you to reply again and send me the picture? Please follow these instructions in how to upload images to do so. Additionally, I would like to recommend pulling down the screen on your phone and then release it so the app can start a new sync, once the error message disappears from the screen.

Please try this a couple of times and let me know the outcome.

I did try pulling down on the screen multiple times after the error message went away.  This screenshot demonstrates what I consistently saw:fitbit_bug_2.jpg

Hello @SunsetRunner, I hope you're doing well, I appreciate you have taken the time to reply and provide the screenshot, thanks. Smiley Happy

At this moment, it seems your Zip is having trouble syncing, in which case I would like to suggest you the following:

  1. Restart your Zip
    • Open the battery door using the battery door tool and remove the battery.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Place the battery back into the tracker with the "+" side facing up, and close the door
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Turn off Bluetooth on your iPod for 15 seconds, then turn it back on.

After that, try to sync your Zip once again by pulling down the screen. If your tracker is still not syncing, let's try to add it as a new device to reset the connection between the tracker and your phone. Don't worry, none of the information previously stored in your account will be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  2. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  3. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

No such luck. The app does not find the zip. This works fine on a PC using the dongle.

Hello @Atulgarg, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

At this moment I would like to ask you to go swipe up on your phone while on the Fitbit app and turn off Bluetooth for 10 seconds, once you turn it on, go back to the app and swipe down the screen to force a sync. If you're still getting the same message, swipe down a couple more times until a sync starts.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.
