We've been using an iPad for a long time for syncing and now it is suddenly not working. We might need to replace it, and we want to sync our Fitbits to our iMac computer in the meantime. How do I do that?

Hi @LAFAMF, welcome to our Community Forums.
Thanks for letting me know that you wish to sync with your Mac computer. I'd suggest to try the following steps to get your devices to sync with your account:
1. Install the Fitbit Connect in your computer.
2. If your computer has Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), go to your System Preferences and verify that it is turned on. Note that even when Bluetooth is on, the signal can occasionally be weak or problematic. If this happens, I recommend to plug the Wireless Dongle into a USB port on your computer as shown. If your Mac doesn't have Bluetooth the dongle is required.
3. After installing, when prompted, choose "Sync now".
4. Log in to your Fitbit account.
5. Wait with your device nearby so the sync can be completed.
Since you have more than one Fitbit device with you, repeat the same steps with each device making sure the other ones are in a different room to prevent any interference.
I'll be around if you need anything else.

Thanks for all of this info. Our iPad was working again this morning, so the "panic" is over for now. I'll keep these instructions just in case the problem recurs!
Just FYI, I have an Alta HR and my husband has a flex 2. They were gifts in the summer of 2017, and neither one had a dongle included in the package. Our computer does have Bluetooth, so I guess we should be able to make it work if need be.

Hi @LAFAMF, it's great to hear from you.
Thanks for letting me know that your iPad is working correctly, and now you have another option to sync your steps with your account. You're right about the Dongle, and let me explain that the Alta HR and Flex 2 were optimized for use with mobile devices, as many of its features require a supported device nearby. But, you can get a Dongle from our website or from any authorized retailer. or sync with your Mac making sure the Bluetooth enabled.
Let me invite you to our Discussion Board where you can make new friends, create topics and share your experience while reaching your goals.
Hope to see you around!
