How can I turn off music Autoplay?

I like listening to audiobooks when I go for a walk, but my iPhone XR Fitbit app has suddenly decided to open the Music app and play whatever song is next in the queue immediately after I begin my walk.

Surely there is a way to turn this feature off.  I was able to turn it off, somehow, about a year or more ago, but maybe a recent software / iOS update has brought it back, and I can't find a setting to turn it off.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you are starting the exercise within the app using the following steps:

  • Tap the exercise tile on the Today screen
  • Tap the Stopwatch icon at the top right
  • Tap the Track tab

Before you tap the big red Start button:

  • Tap "Last Playing"
  • Turn off "Music Control"

That will allow you to listen to whatever you want using whatever app you want to use.

The "Laps Off" in the first image is the lap recap that you can turn on.
