How do I change my starting weight?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I started with fitbit a few months ago and entered a starting weight. I had a few weeks where I didn't use the fitbit but want to get back into it. I need to add a new starting weight because I am, unfortunately, up a few pounds from when I first started. Is there any way to change my start weight without resetting all of my precious data? I can't seem to figure it out. I can change the goal weight, but starting weight seems a mystery. Thanks for any insights! I've got the fitbit flex and an iPhone 6.

@KidX Welcome back, I can definitely help you out!

If you open the Fitbit App and click the dashboard tab in the bottom left-hand corner, you should see a plus sign in the top right-hand corner. When you click the plus sign, you should see the option to log weight. Once you log your weight that will become your current weight in the Fitbit App.

Another way that you can update your weight is by updating your settings on https://www.fitbit.com/user/profile/edit

Hope this helps!

On my iphone fitbit app, I entered a starting weight about a few months ago but never tracked my weight, since then my weight has changed for the worse (it went up).  I want to change my starting weight to my new weight so that i can track my progress.  My initial starting weight a few months ago was 203lbs.  Since then my weight went up to 214.  I would like to reset my starting weight to my weight now of 214.  The online version seems like it was reset however my iphone app is still showing that i have not lost any weight since i began logging.  Example, my weight the last lfew days since i started tracking has went from 214 to 208.  However the ios app says i have not lost any weight.  But when i enter a fake weight of say 195, it says i have lost 8lbs (it is saying my starting weight is the orginall 203 (203-195=8lbs)and not the 214).  I have searched the message boards but have not been able to find an answer.

@aychief123 Welcome to the Community!

I can definitely help you with changing your personal settings. On iOS App please:

-Make sure that you are using the most current version of the iOS App, version 2.17. Click here to be redirected to the iOS App Store.
-Click on the dashboard button in the bottom left-hand corner.

-Click the weight tile (if the weight tile isn't on your dashboard, click here for instructions on how to add it).
-Click the "+" icon in the top right-hand corner.

-Log your current weight and click save.

Let me know if you need any additional help!

How do I get the date to be Jan 1 as my start date and my starting weight to be 214 so that it shows the correct weight loss? Thanks for the help! Sent from Adam's iPhone

I think I found what you are looking for.
On the dashboard click on the scale. It will show all of your logged weights.
Scroll down to your initial weight. Double click that value.
The log weight window will pop up. Change the weight in that window. Your weight change will now be based on that value.

I, too, have had the same issue.  I followed your instructions, and changed my starting weight, but it doesn't change the pounds lost since my first day.  It is still showing the weight loss based on the original weight I entered.  Is there a fix???

I was trying to do the exact same thing.  When you log weights, it only adds it to the graph and the log, it doesn't readjust your starting weight.  You have to go into settings, under nutrition and body goals and change your start date to the date you recorded the weight you want to compare to and change the starting weight.  Hope this helps!

I'm stick on the exact same thing. When I go to setting under nutritiona and body goals. I touch the start date and the drop down come up so I can chnage the date but the new date will not save it keep defaulting to my orignal start date. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the previous post, I was finally able to find where to change the starting weight. Click on account in the lower right-hand corner, and then click on Nutrition & Body under the Goals.  Under the weight category there is a setting to change the starting weight. I have fit bit app version 2.29.  Good luck.

Hello everyone! @chpitcher and @UserNumber99, welcome to the Fitbit Community!

@chpitcher, I was wondering if the new date you're entering for your weight goal is still resetting to the original one, If so, please log out from the Fitbit app, restart your phone and log back in. Then follow @UserNumber99's previous instructions:

  1. Tap on the Account tab on the menu
  2. Tap on Nutrition & Body
  3. Under Weight tap on Start Date and select the desired date from the dropdown menu.
  4. Go back to Account.

Give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

So I am looking at the directions for changing starting weight, and I am able to do that.  But it still has in there that I have now lost 50 pounds overnight.  How do I get the history out? I've only had it overnight.  Should/can I just reset it?  Thanks!

How do I change my weight from 5 months ago to now. I’m down 20 pounds. And I never kept up with putting it in daily as I weight

Hi Marco

I am trying these exact same steps (and have also restarted my phone) but the weight loss on the dashboard is still incorrect - it shows the correct date ie "lost since" as per my request, but the actual weight loss is still referencing the previous date I had set.

Any other advice?

Thanks!

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. It's great to have you around @COLRID, welcome to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

Thanks for letting me know about this issue. Our engineers are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. At this moment I would like to suggest you the following workaround:

  1. Modify your goal Weight by going to Account > Nutrition & Body Goals >Goal Weight
  2. Modify the Starting Date and Starting Weight as well.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this situation has caused. I appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track. If there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply once again.
