How do I change my starting weight?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I started with fitbit a few months ago and entered a starting weight. I had a few weeks where I didn't use the fitbit but want to get back into it. I need to add a new starting weight because I am, unfortunately, up a few pounds from when I first started. Is there any way to change my start weight without resetting all of my precious data? I can't seem to figure it out. I can change the goal weight, but starting weight seems a mystery. Thanks for any insights! I've got the fitbit flex and an iPhone 6.

Why is this still not fixed? I'm on the app trying to change the start date and starting weight. It has a place for me to change it but there is no save button nor does it save automatically. The date keeps going back to today. Please help.

I understand your concern about this situation, if you haven't done it yet, please update the Fitbit app in your phone. Please note that when you tap on the "starting weight" and "starting date" inside Nutrition & Body Goals once you modify these values, they will automatically save so please tap "< Account " for the changes to be saved.

In case they're not saving, force-quit the app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app, then try again.

Thanks for your patience, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I use my iPad mini and my desktop PC. I can only make the changes you suggest using the iPad mini, not my desktop PC, which I prefer. The date field isn't even available on the desktop PC.

I am having trouble with my starting weight and date. I entered my starting weight on April 17. I noticed it wasn't what I entered (oddly by three pounds and I know what I entered; it wasn't entered wrong) and thought I'll fix it later. Later came on May 11, when I entered a weight goal, but it also reset my starting weight date to May 11 - and did not change the starting weight to what I had entered, only my goal. Today I decided to see if there was anything on the internet which would help me and sure enough this post was the first in the google list.

After reading this post I came to realize there are different screens for the iPad mini and desktop PC. I was able to make the date and starting weight adjustments using my iPad mini ... BUT ... the weight came out correct, but the date is still off (only because on the date it has arbitrarily decided to use, I had logged my weight for the day, which was the same as my starting weight).  I am entering April 17, 2018 and it continues to show April 26, 2018. So far can make the date change ... BUT ... I am unable to make it stick.

I guess losing ten days isn't the worst thing ever, but if there is a way to fix it, please let me know.

UPDATE:

I figured it out. My husband had a similar problem with his fitbit; once he set his goal weight, his starting date change. I fixed it for him and was surprised how easy it worked.

I attempted, again, to make the same change to mine, changing April 26 to April 17, but it still wouldn't stick. Then it dawned on me, check the logged weights.  My weight on April 17 went up and down a  pound until April 26 when I had logged the same weight as April 17.  The fitbit system is using the latest date for the starting weight that the same weight is logged.  I added two pounds to my starting weight (which value hadn't been repeated between April 17 and April 26) and reset it for April 17 and it all worked! Odd, but that's that.  So, either I lose nine days of effort or I lose two additional (not real) pounds ... decisions, decisions! LOL

Initially I wasn’t planning to use the weight tracker so entered my goal weight. Now I want to try the weight tracker but when I enter my weight Alta HR thinks I’ve gained weight and has a note on my dashboard saying I’ve gained weight which is very irritating as well as incorrect. I tried deleting all weight entries and the thing just won’t reset to be correct. Please help. Thanks

@PJFB, I appreciate you have come back and let me know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. Thanks for letting me know everything seems to be working fine now, if you experience any more troubles with the starting weight setting, please let me know.

@Julstr, thanks for sharing your experience with me, at this moment I would like to ask you to go to the Fitbit app > Account > Nutrition & Body goals and modify your starting weight and its initial date. That will help reset your weight. Make sure to tap on "< Account " for the changes to be saved.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted!

You're most welcome, @MarcoGFitbit

So you or anyone else who reads this knows, there is a huge difference between the Fitbit App on a phone (my husband's); the Fitbit App on the iPad (mine); the Fitbit App on the PC (mine as well); and, the Fitbit website.  They each have something unique and nice about them; it's too bad all of the good and useful features couldn't be merged into the same format, but understanding computers and displays, I realize this is not possible.  My point is for those who don't already know, when one doesn't work for you, the phone, desktop/laptop/tablet, iPad, or browser window, try the other.

Hi.

I too have attempted to change my starting weight as I entered an incorrect number. Having deleted the erroneous entry the correct value shows but Fitbit Charge2 continues to show the rather large and wrong weightless from the original (bow deleted) entry. Your suggested solution doe not work. Seems that Fitbit does not allow changing of the start weight.

What I found was that I could enter a new start weight as of the day I changed it. The new weight did replace the original weight in the app so now I’m happy.

You need to edit your goal and then the weight tracker will adjust to start that day!

UPDATE:

To change the goal start weight on the dashboard you need to log your weight and change your set goal in settings under the nutrition and body goals. That will reset your start weight and date.

FINALLY!  I was having the same issues everyone else was with my Charge3.  No date field available at all on the laptop version.  Starting weight change inoperative on the laptop version.  You could change everything else EXCEPT the starting weight.  No start date even appears on the laptop version.  I ended up having to log out of the laptop, log into the app on my phone.  Sarcasm---> Of course all of that was available on the Android app.  Ugh.  Changed the info there, logged out of the phone, logged back into the laptop and VOILA - it worked.

Now, if only FITBIT could get all versions to be identical, it wouldn't be such a pain.  Not everyone uses their phones to do life.

Did you ever figure out how to change the start date? I am having the same problem you are and have tried every suggestion on this thread.

Has Fitbit figured out how to correct this error? I still can't change my start date back to reflect my actual weight lost.

It’s been so long since I’ve used my fitbit! Plantar fasciitis and cuboid syndrome from overuse last July have been persistent. So frustrating.
