How do you use the Barcode scanner?

My wife and I are struggling to scan any items of food or drink, has anyone successfully used this facility??

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Flashmandash. It's great to have you here. Please be aware the Barcode Scanner is available for users using the US food database only. You can check out your current database in the online Dashboard > Personal Info > Preferences.
