How does All-day Sync works?

Is it necessary for the phone app to be open for all-day sync to work?

It is not necessary to have the Fitbit app open at all times for the All-day Sync feature to work. You can work on another app or have your phone locked, just make sure the app is running on the background and that you don't forceclose it. (by doubletapping the home button and swiping up the app).
