How to Edit Custom Foods?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The most recent posting I could find on this is a year old. It says to click on the Edit link at the top of the food tile.

There is no edit link on 2.81.1..Unless you mean to do it on the dashboard, not the app, but this was under iOS users section.

I entered a custom food and it left over 24 uncategorized calories. Now I want to edit or if I have to delete it, but can find no place to do either.

Please help. Thanks, Pat

UDPATE:

It's still me....I did finally edit the custom food in the dashboard, but the only way for the iPhone app to pick it up after I edited it in the dashboard is to shut my phone down and restart it. a simple sync doesn't pick up the new food values.

It seems like every time you upgrade you break something else....  <frowny face>

Hello @sailorlady, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us and for listing the steps you took in order to resolve this situation. Please note that you can edit your Custom Foods through the Fitbit app and you won't need to restart your phone afterwards. To achieve this, please follow these steps:

1. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Food tile.

2. Tap on the plus (+) sign on the top right corner of the screen.

3. On the next screen tap on CUSTOM and then on Edit:

EditCustomFood1.png

4. You will be able to see that your Custom Foods have a little pencil icon to the right, this will let you edit every single item here.

EditCustomFood2.png

5. Edit the items of your choice and save them, after finishing editing tap on Done on the top left corner.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hi MarcoGFitbit,
Thanks for the reply. I can indeed edit using that method; when I was
trying it before I didn't see the edit option at the top. I was looking for
edit AFTER I was viewing the custom entry.

I ended up editing it on the web dashboard, but I couldn't get the phone
app to pick up the changes. I tried shutting down the app and restarting
it, then did a manual sync from the phone, and even tried from the website.
The only way to pick up the changes made to my food tile from the dashboard
was to shut down my phone and restart it. Inconvenient to say the least.

Is there some other way to get the phone to see changes made in the tile on
the dashboard?

Thanks, Pat

Hello @sailorlady, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

Please note that it is possible that the changes you made in the online Dashboard did not update immediately in the app, which is why you restarted your phone. Sometimes, it takes a bit for the servers to update the information in the app. The next time this happens, instead of restarting your phone, force-quit the app, wait for a minute and open the app again to check if the information coming from the servers has updated correctly.

I hope this clarifies things up; in case you need anything else please feel free to reply!

Thanks, I guess it must have been the time lag, though I did try shutting down the app and restarting it a few times (probably over about 5 minutes, but I didn't time it). When editing the way you instructed in the phone app, it updated right away. Thanks for including the images, it helped!

Very disappointing; the ability to edit custom food (managing the food groups) is terrible; it either doesn't work, not intuitive; lags minutes - who is going to wait 5 minutes to update, freezes due to long script, inconsistent between devices; terrible. Fitbit has been around for years and these are basic deliveralbles. The feedback survey is terrible as well; it never ask me what the issue is; and of what benefit is contact support or chat or community when it doesn't work.

Very dissatisfied.

Fitbit needs to allocate more money to its IT unit so they can fix these basic deliverables and consistency between devices; functionality is inconsistent between ioad, cell and computer devices.

I agree that more money needs to be spent on IT.  I've been poking around here trying to figure out why I have a Custom tab for food logging on my phone and not on the PC, and a Favorites tab and a Meals tab on the PC and not on my phone.  In what way is this at all helpful?  Why have tabs on the website that don't correlate to the app and vice versa?  It's like technology out of the '80s.  From further research I understand only Android has a favorites tab.  Why on earth is that?

Help. Just got my Fitbit versa2 yesterday and am having trouble editing and deleting custom foods. I, too, don’t get that EDIT button when I open the app and choose the Food Tab.
