I have had my Flex 2 for over a month. In the beginning, mileage was correct for the steps I took. Lately, I am stiffed a mile every day. I walk 5 miles and only 4 miles are logged for 11,000 steps. I reset the Flex 2, I turned off automatic tracking for walking, I increased my stride from 24 (measured) to 39 with no improvement (not even a little more distance recorded). I use 2 different GPS apps that tell me consistently that my distance is 5 miles and yet the Fitbit app always is a mile less. So now I’m thinking the app can’t do the math. Even when I manually fix the miles, the app reduces the amount to 0.2 or less. This is my second Fitbit. I greatly enjoyed my One - and the app worked with it. The app just doesn’t seem to work with my Flex 2. I have iOS 11 (and every update to it) on the iPhone X. Please help!!!

Isn't 11,000 24-inch steps a little over 4 miles?
11,000 * 24 / 12 / 5280 = 4.16666

I was going 11,000 steps at stride length 33.5 and at 39 and still getting 4 miles. The GPS still says 5 miles, too. I don’t mind changing my stride length to match the actual miles walked, but it isn’t changing as I increase the stride length.

Have you considered using MobileRun instead of a separate GPS app?
Here is a link to a Topic where I tested the booking of the distance - both a walk and a "run" down Interstate 710 in Los Angeles:

Check out the Fitbit write-up on MobileRun here:

Who knows, it might help.

Ok, so I reluctantly tried Mobile Run. Since you doubted the mile total of 5 for approx 11,000 steps, I took the exact walk I have been doing. At 11,400 steps I am at 5 miles. So, I have been correct. I calculated my stride using these measured values, and it is 23. However, when I use that stride length in the Fitbit app, my mileage is greatly short-changed. Yesterday, at 18,000 steps the app said I had 6 miles, when it should have been almost 8 miles. I can’t keep Mobile Run on all day! I walk 5 miles outside and another 3 miles on a small indoor track. Mobile Run/GPS doesn’t accurately measure there (they think I’m spinning, even though I’m taking steps. Therefore, I need an accurate calculation of mileage from my step count. If I manually add the mileage to the app after my walk, steps are added (which I slso don’t want).
