Ionic syncing halfway then quits

Had my Ionic paired to the same I-Phone 7 and working great for about a year. Yesterday started to have syncing problems - the syncing line at the top of the screen in the fitbit app goes about halfway, then quits. Tried resetting watch twice, resetting phone, turning bluetooth on and off, nothing solved it. At one point lost my clock face with a message to try to load a different one. Couldn't load a different one (install failed), but the original clock face is back now. However the watch is still not syncing all the way (only halfway).

@mlanger Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Sorry to hear that Ionic isn't syncing with your phone and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Try refreshing the link between them by going to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device.

Let me know how it goes!

Update: tried everything else first (spent the whole afternoon) to no avail. Then did a factory reset, and as it was updating the software, the watch died (while at 98% battery). It's now a brick. The watch is 1 month out of warranty (bought in Dec 2017). Contacted support and was offered a 40% discount on the new Ionic. I accepted it. This is the last time, I swear :). Previously had two Surge watches die within a few months after being out of warranty. If this happens with a 2nd Ionic, I am going to Suunto or Garmin.
