Issues with MobileTrack and Strava.

I'm using my iPhone to count steps and syncing with the Fitbit app which is working well. I have a problem when cycling as the iPhone records steps which are then synced to the app. My cycle ride data is synced from Strava to the fitbit app and correctly appears as an activity. This means that I have excess steps during the cycle ride which need to be removed.

I have tried adding a driving activity for the duration of the cycle ride and this zeroes the steps, but it also removes the calories used from the cycle ride, so this is not a solution.

I have also removed the steps from the IOS health data for the duration of the cycle ride and re-synced with the fitbit app expecting the steps to be removed from the fitbit app, but unfortunately the fitbit app is not removing the steps which have been removed from the IOS health data. This would be the best solution for me, but it looks like the fitbit sync does not re-sync for the period of time that has already been uploaded and so the deleted steps are not removed from the fitbit.

Is there any way that I can remove the excess steps from the fitbit app, whilst retaining the cycle activity and the calories burnt during the activity?

Thanks

Hello @Slowcoach, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

This seems like a very odd situation, usually when an activity is recorded in the app, this activity rewrites the data and the steps measured by MobileTrack get replaced by the steps from the activity.

Nevertheless, my best recommendation would be removing MobileTrack from your account and set it up again to reset it:

  1. Go to the Fitbit app and tap on Account > MobileTrack and tap on Remove From Account.
  2. Force-close the app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app.
  3. Open the app again and tap on Account > Set up a Device.
  4. Select MobileTrack and follow the onscreen instructions.

Then, record a new activity and check if the steps get replaced or duplicated.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

Hi

I followed your instructions, but the steps recorded by the iPhone and synced to Fitbit are still present after syncing a cycle activity via Strava.

During the ride the iPhone counted around 4000 steps (it was a 60 mile ride) and these steps were added to the Fitbit step count as soon as I finished the ride and synced, then the ride activity arrived from Strava but the steps logged during the ride are not removed from the Fitbit step count.
