Keep getting "WiFi Firmware Failure"

I recently got my fitbit versa and need to update the tracker to use it.

However, while trying to update on my iPhone 8 plus I am getting the error of Wifi Firmware update failure.

Even switching to bluetooth for the update doesn't work. Please help!

Hi @Rashmi_O. It's good that the community is growing!

Thanks for letting me know that you got a Versa, as well for your efforts while trying to update the firmware. You did a good job! Before anything else, please verify if the following conditions are met:

  • Your Versa was plugged in the charging cradle during the update, and placed next to the router.
  • There weren't other Bluetooth connections nearby.
  • You're using a personal WiFi connection and not a public network that requires logins, subscriptions, or profiles.
  • Your WiFi router uses 802.11b/g/n under 2.4GHz frequency setting.

Once that is done, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Remove the Versa from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your iPhone.
  3. Even if your Versa is fully charged, plug it in the charging cradle so it can connect to the WiFi.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, tap the profile's icon > Versa's icon > Sync now.
  5. Once your device has synced, tap on WiFi settings and connect to your network. You should see a green check mark when that is completed.
  6. Go back one screen, tap on the option to update device and follow the onscreen instructions.

Give it a try and keep me posted.
