This may be a dumb question but I don't want to assume...
i lost my fitbit 2 days ago. It fell off and I don't know when. I was home most of the day but can't find it.
That said, I just got a notification on my phone that the battery is low. I've tried syncing it in various places of my house but it just keeps saying "looking" so I assumed it wasn't here but if it updated the battery that means it was able to sync right?? That it's somewhere close?

I agree that if the battery status updated then it must have synced. However, that doesn't mean that it's close as it will sync with any computer that has the software and dongle installed (it doesn't have to be your computer or dongle).
There are a few suggestions for finding a lost fitbit here:

I did find it! I put it back where it was when I got the update and found it was able to sync so I searched that area. Sure enough...it was in a trash bag just outside from where I had had it plugged in. 🙂
