Mile splits and map not showing in recent exercise.

  • Did a 26 mile walk yesterday
  • Initiated a "walk" on the charge 3 successfully
  • was informed of each mile, by a vibrate
  • distance calculated correctly
  • data displays in Strava ok, via fitbits API

BUT ON THE FITBIT APP-> PROBLEM

  1. on the app-> the map doesnt render [see picture below]
  2. i dont see mileage split times in the usual placemap not rendering, after 12 hoursmap not rendering, after 12 hours

ON THE FITBIT WEBSITE DASHBOARD-> PROBLEM

  1. i see the map on the mini icon
    Screenshot 2019-04-14 at 10.27.17.png
  2. but on the details of the exercise [21248613831] i get a big error
    Screenshot 2019-04-14 at 10.30.00.png

BUT

  1. my strava is connected to fitbit data via APIs, and can render the map
  2. and strava can render the mileage splits
  3. so-> the mileage split data is there, and the map data is there.. but fitbit cant render it

SO

FITBIT: I am using your device and app for training. Without the maps and mile splits the fitbit becomes of minimal use to me and isn't fit for purpose

Is there a solution?

Response from Fitbit on Twitter

We’re aware of this issue on the app, but may not be able to provide a fix in the near future. We'll continue to monitor the situation and keep our team informed of its impact. We're sorry for the trouble, and understand this isn't the resolution you're hoping for.

So to anyone thinking or buying a Fitbit Charge 3/3SE for GPS tracking and mileage splits - be warned that Fitbit have dropped support for this and are not going to fix it in the future.

Hello @Jakeg_bristol I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I would like to thank you for having tried to troubleshoot this issue and for getting in contact with our team via Twitter.

Please note that our team is currently aware of this issue affecting mileage splits and the map not showing on long exercises (only long exercises are currently affected) and as our team mentioned, they might not be able to provide a resolution for this in the near future, but that doesn't mean they are not working on it, keep in mind that some issues take longer than others to be resolved.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, have a great day.

Yea see personally i don’t see 26 miles as an edge case. It’s a marathon. It’s pretty obvious that a sports/training device for runners and walkers should cope with a marathon distance. In that sense it’s failing me miserably

and tbh my next long distance will be 62 miles... and it’s pretty annoying to know that my £150 device bought specifically for this event will not be able to cope with it

so yes.. I will Be patient for the inconvenience but tbh it’s more than in inconvenience- It’s the devices sole purpose not being met. It’s £150 I spent to upgrade from a flex to a charge specifically for this feature. It’s money I wont get back despite the apologies, and there’s no indication of timescale or priority for this issue.

Hello,

My charge 3 is not showing splits or map (its also not available on my dashboard).  I did usual restart etc.  I use android phone and my runs are usually relatively short (2-6 km).  Is there a solution?  Thanks.

I don’t think the issue is only affecting long exercises as I am only doing short (around 3K) walks and I have a similar problem.

I have an Inspire HR and the mile (or in my case Kilometre) split shows on the ios app both as a graph and as markers on the map.

But if I access the exercise on my Dashboard on fitbit.com then although the graphic shows the split there are no corresponding markers showing on the map.

So maybe those looking into it can also investigate why it appears on one platform but not another

Cheers

This is happening to me too. (Charge 3) I had my splits shown on my run a few days ago, seems that there has been an update and now it's not recording my splits.

This is a dumb update and I now have barely any use to use the Fitbit over another app.

Why has this been taken away?

My Fitbit used to show the map, splits and time for each km when running and walking short and long distance. It doesn't anymore. I have tried resetting changing around settings. Please provide a fix.

this is the same for me. It's so frustrating and pointless. I contacted live chat and they just suggested restarting the fitbit before a run 🙄
