MobileTrack not syncing on iPhone 8

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got an Apple Watch 3 days ago after about 7 Fitbit units over the last five plus years. but want to continue to be in my Fitbit group and downloaded mobile tracker. It synced the first day upon downloading. But the sync function does not work so every day I delete it and add it back to make it sync. Today I even when downloading it doesn’t sync.

UPDATE:

Hi I am trying to sync Fitbit mobile tracker on my apple 8 phone. It’s grayed out.

Last couple of days it synced but to do it I had to delete and reinstall tracker every day. Today out of her 10k steps it’s only recognizing 438.

I have tried linking via myfitnespal as well but nothing. I have deleted the Fitbit app and reinstalled.

Hello @Flaneur, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Thanks for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far in hopes to resolve this issue on your side. At this moment, in case you haven't done it yet, please update the Fitbit app.

Note that it's possible that the "Sync Now" button appears disabled on MobileTrack, when that happens, go to the app Dashboard, and swipe down the screen to force a sync. If nothing is syncing, please let us know so we can check this further.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

Hi Marco I have been doing this. It’s the default action same as when I had the Fitbit. When it wasn’t working only I was deleting the mobile tracker and reinstalling. I had deleted the Fitbit app and reinstalled as well.

Please delete the accepted as solution status. I hit it inadvertently and don’t know how to undo it. Thanks.

Hi Marco. No solution by both deleting and reinstalling the app as well as deleting and reinstalling Mobile Tracker.

Yesterday - Apple health app and activity apps show 4,245 steps and Fitbit shows 859.

Is there somewhat to find out where it’s pulling it’s data?

I appreciate you have tried the troubleshooting steps provided earlier. Please note that low-power step sensors inside your phone track your steps and send the data to the Fitbit app. Assuming you have an internet connection, when you open the Fitbit app, your phone's data automatically syncs with the app.

Now, at this moment, I would like to ask you to go to your phone Settings > Fitbit  > Motion & Fitness and disable it. Then, restart your phone. After that, go back and enable Motion & Fitness.

Monitor your phone afterwards and try to sync MobileTrack at the end of the day. Let us know if you notice any improvement.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, have a great day.

Thank you Marco. Will try and keep you posted at the end of the day.

UPDATE:

Hi Marco, I followed the steps twice. Second time I deleted the Mobile Tracker and then turned off motion and  after restarting the phone and turning on the motion added the Mobile Tracker. Still my Apple Health steps are 8,400+ while Fitbit shows 2,300.

I have the app Pedometer++ to count steps  since the way Apple health counts steps on its own is based in heart rate/calorie spend and not by motion.  I thought this infor may help with the other person having problems with Health app giving less steps.

Hi Marco. I just checked on the Apple Health app and it doesn’t recognize Fitbit as an app that requested to share data. Please see attached screen shot.

Hello @Flaneur thanks for coming back to us! Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for adding a screenshot to your latest reply. Note that the Fitbit app and the Apple Health app can't be linked, which is why the Fitbit app doesn't show on this list. MobileTrack directly uses the sensors on your phone.

Thanks again for coming back, if you want to add anything else so I can forward it to our team, please feel free to reply.

Hi Marco the Fitbit app is getting movement data from the phone how is it capturing the data from the movement of the watch. I have the phone on the window sill of the gym while I run on the treadmill wearing my watch. So the phone is not moving.

Hello @Flaneur thanks for taking the time to reply, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

Please note that when you use multiple devices, we combine their data and present the totals. For example, if the tracker you wore to the office counted 8000 steps and then you use MobileTrack during your evening run counted 9000, the total number of steps on your dashboard is 17,000.

If you have a Fitbit device and MobileTrack in the same account and you're using both at the same time, we’ll reconcile the overlapping data to present the most accurate information possible on your dashboard. For example, if your device is using GPS , your dashboard chooses the GPS data when calculating total distance since GPS provides a more accurate distance measurement than step counting alone than the data coming from MobileTrack.

Thanks again for your participation in the Forums, if there's anything else you would like to ask, feel free to do so, happy stepping!

Hi Marco,

i am giving you all this different info and questions hoping they will help you to help me. Basically I have one device - Apple Watch and I am trying to see if my steps there will sync with Fitbit Mobile Tracker and it has not done so over the last two weeks. The differences are too big to make any sense.

Same issue for me.  My apple watch/health app has 25-50% more steps than the MobileTrack records.  I wouldn't care but everyone in the community I participate in uses the fitbit app.

None of the fixes that were suggested worked.  In fact, it actually decreased the amount of steps previously recorded yesterday.  Very strange.

I am having the same issue with my Apple health data showing much higher than Motion Track is recording. Tried syncing/disabling motion/uninstalling the app and reinstalling and am not satisfied with any of the solutions presented. This is not a fixed issue by any means. I will have to manually enter the data on FitBit challenges,

and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a tracker.

I have found the answer!! The reason why the sync is off is that MobileTrack requires you to HAVE YOUR PHONE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES!! I REPEAT YOUR DEVICE NEEDS TO BE AT ALL TIMES.

MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. MobileTrack does not track floors, sleep, or active minutes.

I have an Apple device and I like competing in the Fitbit Daily Challenges but for some strange reason the sync is always off and I've spent a lot of time researching this issue. Anyways I needed to charge my phone one day so I went for a little walk and I logged over 1000 steps none of it recorded. I put my phone back into my pocket looked at how many steps were logged and walked up and down my stairs, which logged 30 steps on my watch and 30 steps on my phone. I was like awe man!!! So now I had to work twice as hard to win my challenges, but this worked. The answer is ALWAYS KEEP YOUR PHONE ON YOU.
