MobileTrack steps don't match with Apple Health app steps.

Hi guys, I have just been invited to join Fitbit by my wife who has a Charge. I wear an iwatch so googled it and found a solution to being able to challenge each other BUT.....my data in the Fitbit app doesn’t match the data in my phones Health app. I’ve tried syncing it over and over but nothing changes. Fitbit is logging less than half what my phone has logged for the same day?? I’m on a losing streak!! Heeeelp (bar being told to work twice as hard thank you haha)

Hello @nicp289, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

If you find the data from the Health app significantly more or less than the one measured by MobileTrack in the Fitbit app, please remove MobileTrack and set it up once again. This data should remain the same as MobileTrack uses the same sensors the Apple Health app uses to measure steps.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hi Marco, thanks for your response. I have successfully removed MobileTrack from the app and then set it up again but to no avail I’m afraid. The numbers are bonkers. Health currently says 6559 steps, Fitbit says 1989....

Hi Marco,

I managed to do as you say but nothing has changed. The data is sooooo different from my Health App data it's scary. I've decided to ditch the Fitbit and just work off that.

Hi @nicp289,

I believe MobileTrack only copies the steps that are recorded by your phone, and not the ones recorded from your Apple Watch.

Try this:

In the Apple Health App, click on your Steps, then scroll down to see the Data Sources & Access Link.

Yout will see that your phone and your watch are listed there. If you click on your phones link, the steps should match the ones listed in Fitbit.

I have the same issue and found this out just tonight.

Was this resolved for you?  I have the same issue and it's driving me insane as I've been an avid FitBit used since 2013.  It was a hard decision to leave and go the the Apple Watch.  I miss my challenges!

I am having the same problem.. did they fix it? It’s not even off by a little... it’s off by a lot. Plus

you can’t manually add in the steps.. you don’t get credit for it..

No, no solution so far.......

That sucks! Yeah today I walked 14394 steps and my Fitbit app only said 3241!! Big difference.

I only hope we have not hit the corporate abyss. They realize there is a problem, so lets go radio silent, pretend it's not there, it will go away. I really hope this is not what we are seeing here. This is an issue that should be addressed. Waiting patiently to be proven wrong. fingers crossed

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the forums, please note that when using MobileTrack, low-power step sensors inside your phone track your steps and send the data to the Fitbit app. Mobiletrack does not transfer the steps from the Apple Health app to the Fitbit app.

Now, if you're still having trouble with MobileTrack, I would like to suggest you the following:

  1. Remove MobileTrack from the Fitbit app by going to Account > MobileTrack > Remove from Account
  2. Force-quit the app
  3. Go to your phone Settings > Fitbit  and disable Motion & Fitness.
  4. Restart your phone
  5. Go to your phone Settings > Fitbit again and enable Motion & Fitness
  6. Set up MobileTrack in the Fitbit app again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

MarcoGFitbit,

I also appreciate your comments and participation in this thread but your suggestion is ineffective. I was given the same information not long after I initially posted the problem.

Given this issue has been out in the wild for so long without any remedy and lack of interest I’m glad to say I binned the Fitbit app and got in with life.

Sorry not sorry 😁

So Sad with all the technology no one can figure out how to sync these devices. I can't believe it. Is it more so to forces people to either buy a fitbit to join challenges or just ditch fitbit all together? i dont want to completely give up on you FITBIT. lol
