Old zip died a horrible death in the washer. I bought a new one and so far I am completely unimpressed. The stupid thing showed up without a battery in the box. So then I had to go out and buy the battery. Now, I have managed to delete the old device from my account, but installing the new software onto my Mac has been a complete hassle since it has been years since I created my original account. Now, I have the software installed but this new zip won't sync. The software can't find it even though it is 6" from the dongle. New laptop. Tried two different ports. no joy. been playing with this piece of expensive junk for hours to try and get it to sync. Any brilliant ideas out there?

Did you try a different USB port?
Is the battery installed correctly.
Search YouTube for a zip battery install as it can be tricky.
If that does not help contact support. Link is at top of forum

@COAviatrix, you say it won't find it or sync, but have you been able to set it up yet?

Hi, @COAviatrix,
Here are the instructions for setting up your Zip. You ought to have received a battery in the package with it!
If you don’t have a compatible mobile device, you can set up your tracker with a computer and see your Fitbit stats on fitbit.com. To use this setup method you’ll first install a free software application called Fitbit Connect that lets Zip sync its data with your fitbit.com dashboard.
To install Fitbit Connect and set up your tracker:
1. Go to http://www.fitbit.com/setup.
2. Scroll down and click the option to download.
3. When prompted, save the file that appears.
4. Double-click the file (Install Fitbit Connect.pkg). The Fitbit Connect installer opens
5. Click Continue to move through the installer.
7. Follow the onscreen instructions to create a Fitbit account and connect your Zip.
If your computer has Bluetooth, setup and syncing can take place wirelessly. If not you will need to plug in the wireless sync dongle that came in the box with your Fitbit Zip.
Even if your computer has Bluetooth if it is a version that doesn't work with the Fitbit you may need to use the dongle, so if syncing is the problem, have you tried using the dongle?
Hopefully this will help. Keep us posted!
