Unfortunately what works for some doesn’t work for others. I restored mine by holding down the side button on my watch as when I updated the software it must have disabled the notification. It’s would be very frustrating for those that haven’t found the solution to the i problem.

Whelp the Screen Time suggestion did not work for me on the Blaze with iPhone XS IOS 12.

Not sure I liked having to enable all those things, will say this when I got to the "Go into settings>screen time>content and privacy>enable>background app activities>scroll to fitbit" there were no apps in this area, simply "Allow" or "Not Allow"

Anyway, I never thought this would bug me so much, but it really is starting to bug me.

It should be noted, my wife has a Blaze as well, IOS 12 on an Iphone X and is not having the same problems as me. I am considering deleting it from my phone and seeing if it works on my sons X. If so, looks like he might get a slightly used Fitbit.

Hello @randrei, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

Thanks for joining the conversation and let us know the issues you're experiencing with your device. I would also like to thank you for having reset it already. At this moment, if your Fitbit device is not syncing correctly, please try the following:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I am getting notifications however it works for 2 or 3 days and than stops and I have to go inside the Fitbit App and turn off texts and than turn them back on and reset the iPhone. It’s very very frustrating! Help!

I couldn't receive notifications from my wife, her texts had a crescent moon on the left side of the message. This is a Do Not Disturb indicator. iOS 12 requires different steps to Add/Remove. Google has a very good step by step instructions.

I'm sure she added it by mistake😇

I have done all of these steps - I receive the notifications for about 2 days and than they stop and i have to reset my phone after i turn off notifications on Fitbit app and than turn them back on. Notifications start again but 2 days later they disappear. Is there a fix?

UPDATE:

Are you still having messages with texts on ionic?

UPDATE 2:

Are you still having issues with not receiving texts on Ionic?

I started to receive text messages today, I’m not sure why.  Now my versa just vibrates when I get a text, there is nothing on the screen to read.

Hi johnt11, I have only used my fix for 24hrs. Let me use it for a while
longer & I will post the results. Sorry to about yours.

UPDATE:

Try swiping down from the top or tapping the screen, I have trouble with
that myself. Also something tech support told me was the iPhone screen has
to be locked to receive any notifications on the Versa.

Hello @viking72 and @SunsetRunner, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too @johnt11, I hope you're doing well.

@johnt11, Please note that Notifications skip or stop occasionally for several reasons that don't suggest a problem with your device or the Fitbit app, which is why I would like to ask you to check the following:

  • Your phone was too far away. It must be within 30 feet of your Fitbit device to transmit the notification.
For texts, you have the conversation open on your phone. Your Fitbit device shows new texts you haven't already read.
You changed a related setting on your phone, such as turning on Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode. To double check all requirements, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • You're using another Bluetooth product. If you have Bluetooth products like speakers, headsets, or car stereos paired to your phone along with your Fitbit device, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. For example, turning on your speaker might stop your phone from sending a notification or syncing. For more information, see Is the Fitbit app interfering with other Bluetooth devices?
  • The connection between your phone and Fitbit device is unstable. Bluetooth signals are susceptible to disconnecting or dropping occasionally.
  • The app that should send the notification can't do so. Check all the phone and Fitbit app requirements in How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • Your device was syncing. Syncing can sometimes prevent or delay a notification.
  • You just updated the Fitbit app. Restart your phone and try setting up notifications again.
  • Device lock is active on your Fitbit watch and you haven't recently entered your PIN. Tap your watch screen to see if the device lock prompt appears. If it does, enter your PIN.

If you've reviewed the list above and can't get notifications to work, please try the following:

  1. Force-quit the Fitbit app, then open it again and sync your tracker.
  2. Restart the Bluetooth on your phone once again.
  3. Reset your Versa once again.
  4. Refresh Notifications:
    • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
    • Tap Notifications.
    • Turn off all notifications
    • Restart your phone.
    • Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on.
  5. Set up Notifications again:
    • Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device.
      1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and find your Fitbit device in the list.
      2. Find an option to forget the device.
    • Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again.

@SunsetRunner, please note that when you receive a Notification your tracker or watch will vibrate but the screen won't turn on, you will have to turn your wrist (in case you have Quick View enabled) or tap on the screen or buttons to wake up the screen and see the Notification.

@viking72, I'm glad to hear your situation has been resolved after turning off the "Do Not Disturb" mode on the phone, thanks for letting us know.

I hope this can be helpful, feel free to reply in case you need anything else.

Thank you - I’ve done all of that. My phone is always near my device - no changes alter on phone or device - the texts just stop coming through. I know there’s a correlation with this and the recent iOS upgrade.

Thanks

I was able to finally start receiving texts on my Alta after I set the text notifications on my iPhone 8+ to show up on my Lock Screen and Notification Center. When I didn’t have both of those checked on my phone, I wasn’t receiving the texts on my Alta. A weird fix, but it worked!

Thanks for the information, just to be clear my Do Not Disturb issue was
for phone to phone (look for the crescent moon on the left of the text).
The Fitbit support tech was very diligent with verifying all of the
scenarios you mentioned.

I’ve done all these steps, I’ve spoken, texted, tweeted with Fitbit support, send screen shots of my settings and was told it’s an iOS 12 issue, they are working on it, but there’s nothing they can do and I now have a watch...that’s it. They tried everything, but I’m past the return time since I got it when it first came out. Worked great for a month then nothing since. I should have kept my Flex 😕

Mine are set that way - I get messages. The issue I am having is it stops after a few days - and I have to reset everything to get them to start working again.

My fitbit WILL NOT SYNC to the phone. I've turned Bluetooth on and off so many times, I'm starting to feel like a prostitute.
I now have an app that does nothing and a fitbit that will not sync to the phone.
Before you ask:
I've turned Bluetooth on and off
Hard restart and soft restart of phone
Eliminated all other devices that use Bluetooth, so fitbit would be the only thing syncing
Uninstalled and reinstalled app. (now app will not link to the fitbit (BECAUSE FITBIT WILL NOT SYNC TO PHONE!)
Fitbit is sitting right next to the phone
I've tried it while fitbit was charging and not
I've restarted the fitbit.

PLEASE tell me what else I can try! I'm so frustrated it's ridiculous.

Still no updates on a fix???? Annoying! This is my 2nd versa as my first one kept freezing and now no notifications for several months. Fitbit, can you send me a check so I can go purchase an Apple Watch?? I hope people are reading these posts before considering purchasing a Fitbit for a loved one for Christmas so they don’t buy a defective product...

So fun fact they aren’t saying, if you purchase your Fitbit AFTER you did the update on the phone, it works fine. Only defective if you had your Fitbit and then did the update. My husband got his right when mine started tweaking, but his is fine. I’ve asked Fitbit to just exchange for a new working one since I’d only had mine for a month, but they won’t do it. By the time I’d realized I couldn’t “fix” it, 45 days had passed so I’m out of luck.
